Sainz is zich niet bewust van teamorder-verzoek Leclerc

Na afloop van de Braziliaanse Grand Prix ging het veelvuldig over de teamorder-weigering van Max Verstappen. De Nederlander was echter niet de enige die een teamorder leek te weigeren, ook bij Ferrari werd er om een teamorder gesmeekt. Carlos Sainz is zich echter van geen kwaad bewust.

In de slotfase van de Braziliaanse Grand Prix op het circuit van Interlagos reden Ferrari-coureurs Carlos Sainz en Charles Leclerc achter elkaar. Aangezien Leclerc nog tweede kan worden in het wereldkampioenschap vroeg hij zijn team of Sainz hem voorbij kon laten. Het verzoek werd echter niet gehonoreerd en Sainz kwam gewoon als derde over de streep.

Het leek erop dat de Spanjaard niet had geluisterd naar zijn team. Hij behield zijn plek en bekroonde daarmee zijn sterke inhaalrace op het circuit in de stad Sao Paulo. Na afloop was Sainz zich van geen kwaad bewust en reageerde hij op de zaak tijdens de persconferentie voor de top drie: "Ja, ik hoorde dit op het einde van de race. Ik hoorde op de radio hier namelijk niets over van het team en mijn engineer. Ik weet het net sinds een half uurtje, ik hoorde het toen ik uitstapte. Ik heb er dus niets over te zeggen."
