Vettel neemt afscheid: "Ik heb genoten van deze race"

Sebastian Vettel reed vandaag zijn laatste Grand Prix uit zijn Formule 1-loopbaan. Een loopbaan waarin Vettel vier keer wereldkampioen werd, records brak en de harten stal van veel fans kwam tot een einde. Na afloop kreeg hij een staande ovatie van het publiek, de fans thuis en de top drie.

Vettel reed een redelijk sterke afscheidsrace. De Duitse Aston Martin-coureur vocht een aantal mooie gevechten uit met onder andere Carlos Sainz en Esteban Ocon. Vettel liet zijn team weten dat hij niet geheel tevreden was met de strategie maar hij hield het hoofd koel en eindigde zijn laatste race in de top tien.

Racemodus

Vettel bedankte direct na de finish zijn team en zwaaide uitgebreid naar het aanwezige publiek. Vettel draaide daarna het rechte stuk op voor een paar donuts. Hij verscheen ook voor de microfoon van interviewer van dienst Jenson Button: "Je weet hoe het gaat, ik had gehoopt op een paar puntjes meer. Ik heb genoten van de race. De warm-up naar deze race was een beetje anders! Maar toen de lichten uitgingen ging de racemodus aan."

Strategie

Ook in zijn laatste race bleef Vettel zich bemoeien met de strategie. Aston Martin koos voor een eenstopper en daar was Vettel het niet mee eens. De Duitser bleef competitief tot het einde. "Vandaag hadden we niet de beste strategie uitgekozen. Ik denk dat het best jammer is want we hadden het kampioenschap voor ons kunnen omdraaien. Over het algemeen was het een grote dag en wil ik iedereen bedanken voor de support!"

  In zijn RB tijd vond ik het echt een vervelend ventje. Na zijn RB tijd ben ik hem steeds meer gaan waarderen.
  Top coureur, maar nog belangrijker, geweldige kerel naast de baan. Nu lekker genieten van t leven. Dubbel en dik verdiend.

Mooiste actie van hem toch wel het swappen van de nummer 1 en 2 bordjes na de race.

Minst mooie het insturen op Lewis (Baku?).

Ik ga het vingertje toch wel missen!

Toch nog een puntje, de 1 stopper was niet zo'n goed idee. De snelheid was er om Ocon te verslaan, maar tactisch door Alpine afgebluft. Weet niet meer wanneer ik precies fan ben geworden, is er volgens mij langzaam een beetje ingeslopen (ergens in 2009 denk ik), maar Monza 2008 en de manier waarop blijft voor mij denk ik wel de meest onwaarschijnlijke overwinning van alle F1 wedstrijden die ik heb gezien.

  Toch nog een puntje, de 1 stopper was niet zo'n goed idee., Volgens mij eindigden er een paar voorin die het niet met je eens zijn. Ze hebben Vettel (zoals hij zelf al opmerkte) gewoon te laat zijn enige pitstop laten doen, hij was al een flink aantal ronden 3 seconden per rondje langzamer dan de auto's om hem heen.

ik was ook fan van Sebastian , maar het word toch tijd dat hij eens bij de kapper zijn haren laat knippen , het is presies of die in de wildernis de laatste tijd woond waar geen electriciteit is ,

Toch grappig, hier wordt gezegd dat hij heeft genoten van zijn laatste race, op de telegraaf staat een artikel dat hij niet heeft genoten van zijn laatste race, wat is het nou? ;-) (Ik heb de race niet gezien dus ik weet het verder niet)
