McLaren wint pitstopduel in Abu Dhabi

Ook in de laatste Grand Prix van het seizoen speelden de pitstops weer een grote rol bij het verloop van de race. In Abu Dhabi ging het om een eenstopper of een tweestopper. Het was dan ook zaak om goed voor de dag te komen in de pitlane, één team stak er dit keer met kop en schouders bovenuit.

Niet pitstop-kampioen Red Bull Racing maar het team van McLaren was dominant in de Abu Dhabi. De Britse renstal verrichtte de twee snelste pitstops in het Emiraat. Men wisselde de banden van Lando Norris in 2,32 seconden en daarmee waren ze de snelste. Ze claimden ook de tweede plaats door de banden van Daniel Ricciardo in 2,33 seconden te wisselen. Mercedes maakte de top drie compleet met een pitstop van 2,35 seconden.

Ondanks dat het blijft P5.
Jammer van Brazilië want anders hadden ze nog voor Alpine geëindigd.
Zie het volgend jaar ook niet zo positief voor dit team met de vertraging van hun windtunnel.
Vooraan het middenveld ja, maar voor de aansluiting vooraan is het nog een lange rit.
