Nieuwe en bekende gezichten in actie tijdens F1-testdag op Yas Marina

Tijdens de naseizoenstest op het Yas Marina circuit werden er flink wat rondes gereden. De Formule 1-teams kregen de kans om haar talenten ervaring in een Formule 1-auto op te doen, terwijl ervaren rijders van de koningsklasse meededen aan de Pirelli-tests. Met de aankomst van drie nieuwe rookies in de Formule 1 en de interne transfers zoals bijvoorbeeld die van Fernando Alonso, was er op dinsdag in Abu Dhabi genoeg om naar uit te kijken.

Wat betreft de junioren kregen Oscar Piastri (McLaren), Pietro Fitipaldi (Haas), Theo Pourchaire (Alfa Romeo), Jack Doohan (Alpine), Nyck de Vries (AlphaTauri), Frederik Vesti (Mercedes), Liam Lawson (Red Bull), Felipe Drugovich (Aston Martin), Logan Sargeant (Williams) en Robert Shwartzman (Ferrari) de kans om te kunnen wennen aan de karakteristieken van een Formule 1-auto.

Voornamelijk voor Sargeant, de Vries en Piastri was de testdag van belang, want deze coureurs zijn vanaf volgend seizoen als fulltime coureur zijnde een officiële Formule 1-rookie. Eerdergenoemden wisten respectievelijk 79, 125 en 110 ronden te volbrengen; de coureurs zijn flink wat Formule 1-ervaring rijker wat ongetwijfeld een basis zal betekenen in hun voorbereiding naar 2023.

Wat betreft de bekende namen reed Valtteri Bottas de meeste keer rond het circuit; de Fin aan boord van zijn Alfa Romeo 127 ronden te rijden. De snelste tijd van de dag werd door Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz genoteerd: een 1.25.245. Pirelli zal ongetwijfeld bergen aan waardevolle data hebben verzameld, want de ervaren Formule 1-coureurs wisten collectief het rondenaantal over de 1000 te brengen. Met de testdag officieel ten einde zijn de blikken nu gericht op de wintertests in 2023.

De echt grote namen hingen voornamelijk in de kroeg dit weekend en reden geen meter meer in een F1 auto. Ze zijn voor nu even ‘klaar’ met de F1 en stappen tijdens de wintertest wel weer in. Max en Lando vierden een goed feestje samen in ieder geval
