Het huidige Formule 1-seizoen werd afgelopen weekend in Abu Dhabi afgesloten. Max Verstappen liet het aanwezige Nederlandse publiek juichen door de seizoensafsluiter op zijn naam te schrijven. Een aantal Nederlandse fans bleven daarna in de regio hangen voor het volgende grote sportevent.

In Qatar vindt immers deze dagen het WK-voetbal plaats. Het voetbaltoernooi trekt de aandacht van veel fans en tevens de coureurs. Veel Formule 1-coureurs supporten hun nationale elftal en de fans doen dat ook. Aangezien er aankomende vrijdag weer wordt gespeeld door het Nederlands elftal zal de aandacht daarnaar uitgaan.
