Met het Formule 1-seizoen van 2022 officieel ten einde heeft de koningsklasse afscheid genomen van viervoudig wereldkampioen Sebastian Vettel. De Duitse coureur nam eerder dit jaar de beslissing om na de Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi te stoppen met zijn carrière als Formule 1-coureur. In een 24-minuten lange video eert Aston Martin een Formule 1-legende.

In een video op het officiële Youtube-kanaal van het “Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula 1 team” doet het team van Sebastian Vettel een boekje open over zijn laatste avonturen in de koningsklasse. In 2021 maakte Vettel bekend dat hij van Ferrari naar Aston Martin zou overstappen; zijn beslissing maakte veel hype los. De hoop was dat Vettel opnieuw het succes in de Formule 1 kon proeven. Het team van Aston Martin kende een wisselvallige afgelopen twee seizoenen waarin het geen competitieve auto had en vooral op strategisch vlak fouten maakte.

Vettel kondigde eerder dit jaar aan dat hij na het onlangs afgelopen seizoen afscheid zou gaan nemen van de Formule 1. De Duitser zegt zich nu te willen focussen op zijn familie en op het meedenken in het verbeteren van globale problemen, bijvoorbeeld wat betreft het klimaat. In de video zijn meerdere invalshoeken te zien, waaronder van de hoofdpersonage zelf. De video betekent het officiële afscheid van Vettel aan de Formule 1.
