'Portimao vervangt Chinese Grand Prix op 2023-kalender'

Vandaag kwam het langverwachte nieuws naar buiten: de Chinese Grand Prix gaat in 2023 toch niet door. De Grand Prix op het circuit nabij Shanghai stond tot verbazing van velen wel op de kalender voor 2023 maar is daar nu toch van verwijderd. Nieuws over een mogelijke vervangende Grand Prix is er nog niet, wel ligt er een kaper op de kust.

De Chinese Grand Prix werd voor het laatst in 2019 verreden. De edities van 2020 en 2021 werden afgelast vanwege de situatie omtrent het coronavirus. Aangezien de maatregelen in het land nog steeds zeer streng zijn, leek het onlogisch dat de race aankomend jaar weer op de kalender zou staan. De hoge heren van de sport besloten echter anders en plaatsten de Grand Prix gewoon op de kalender, vandaag werd hier echter een streep door gezet.

Aangezien de coronamaatregelen nog steeds zeer streng zijn heeft men de Grand Prix van laten vallen. In eerste instantie verwachtte men dat er geen vervangende Grand Prix zou worden georganiseerd, dit lijkt echter wel het geval te zijn. De Portugese commentator Joao Carlos Costa meldt namelijk op Twitter dat de Formule 1 een vervanger heeft gevonden in de vorm van Portimao. Volgens Costa worden de laatste details opgelost voor de FIA World Council Meeting in Bologna.

Dit is echt een heerlijk baantje op de playstation. Daarnaast leuke omgeving, goed aan te vliegen, voldoende plek om leuk te overnachten en een paar dagen er aan vast te plakken. Eigenlijk is alles er beter dan in China.

  Ook de "niet virtuele" race kan ik hier wel smaken en daar gaat het tenslotte om.

  Sepang zou mooi zijn. Maar daar staat geen grote pot met geld klaar om door de FOM opgehaald te worden. Naast een mooi circuit zou het logisitek ook een prima vervanger voor China kunnen zijn. Ligt ook op de route
