Formule 1-baas Domenicali hoopt dat Ferrari competitief kan blijven

Voorman van de Formule 1 Stefano Domenicali kijkt terug op een bewogen Formule 1-seizoen. Domenicali zag zijn oud-werkgever Ferrari het duel voor de constructeurstitel ten opzichte van Red Bull verliezen, maar laat weten blij te zijn dat de Scuderia de weg richting de kop van het veld lijkt te hebben teruggevonden. Domenicali meent echter dat het voor de sport noodzakelijk is dat het team van Ferrari ook in de toekomst een kracht blijft om rekening mee te houden.

Formule 1-topman Stefano Domenicali kijkt terug op een bewogen Formule 1-seizoen, waarbij vooral de eerste seizoenshelft van 2022 een strijdtoneel leverde voor spannende duels tussen concurrenten Red Bull en Ferrari. Laatstgenoemde lijkt de weg naar de top te hebben teruggevonden, al viel de Scuderia bij het uitkomen van de zomerstop in pace terug waardoor het Red Bull aan de horizon zag verdwijnen. De interne druk bij het prestigieuze Italiaanse merk bleek te groot, waardoor diens Formule 1-teambaas Mattia Binotto besloot zijn positie in het team te verlaten.

Ondanks de gemaakte fouten waardoor de titel uit de handen van Ferrari begon te glippen en het daaropvolgende ontslag van Binotto, wijst alles erop dat het team bij het ingaan van de winterstop niet meer een achtervolger van concurrenten Mercedes en Red Bull is, maar dat het titelgevecht in zowel het rijders- als het constructeurskampioenschap van 2023 een duel zal zijn tussen drie grootmachten. Een spannend seizoen zou de sport dan ook veel goeds doen, meent Domenicali.

"Ik hoop echt dat Ferrari de oplossingen zal vinden om op het juiste pad te blijven, want ze hebben zich ontzettend goed hersteld als je kijkt naar waar ze twee jaar geleden stonden", begint Domenicali tegenover Sky. "Het is voor de sport van noodzaak dat Ferrari competitief blijft en we hebben een goed team, een sterk team en sterke rijders nodig om de anderen te kunnen bevechten. Dat is waar ik op hoop", sluit Domenicali af.

Weet jij hier meer over? De Ferrari PU had betrouwbaarheidsproblemen, dus steeds teruggeschroefd.
Zijn die inmiddels verholpen, zodat ie verder opengedraaid kan worden?
Mogen ze daar onbeperkt aan werken?

  Heb het idd. gelezen, veel meer staat er niet in.
  Maar de geloofwaardige tech journalisten in Italië menen te weten dat Ferrari op een gegeven moment de motor heeft teruggedraaid om verdere malheur te voorkomen, door Binotto ook toegegeven.
  Vanaf dat dat moment is er volop gewerkt aan analyses en oplossingen, het motorconcept van Ferrari is genaamd ' superfast', ontwikkeld door Wolff Zimmerman, daarmee wordt niet de snelheid bedoelt maar de verbranding.
  Dit concept schijnt meerdere problemen te hebben opgeleverd in onder andere het turbulent jet ignition bij hogere bedrijfstemperaturen.
  Partner Mahle heeft ondertussen speciale bougies ontwikkeld en de 3D geprinte zuigers zijn aangepast.
  Geen idee of dit het probleem was, maar bij Ferrari schijnen ze vertrouwen te hebben dat de kraan volgend seizoen open kan.
