Button verwacht veel van Grand Prix van Las Vegas: "Wordt de perfecte show"

Aankomend seizoen keert de Grand Prix van Las Vegas weer terug op de Formule 1-kalender. De race belooft een zeer bijzondere te worden aangezien het een avondrace is dwars door het centrum van de gokstad. Jenson Button denkt dat het een enorm show gaat worden.

De Grand Prix van Las Vegas werd eerder dit jaar met veel bombarie aangekondigd door de organisatie van de Formule 1. De race zal dwars door de stad gaan, langs alle casino's en over de wereldberoemde Strip. Tevens wordt de race verreden op een zaterdagavond, voor de Europese kijker is dit echter 'gewoon' op de zondagochtend.

Sin City

Enkelvoudig wereldkampioen Jenson Button woont tegenwoordig in de Verenigde Staten en hij kijkt enorm uit naar de Grand Prix. Button wordt geciteerd door Motorsportweek: "Ik denk dat heel erg veel mensen uitkijken naar de Formule 1 in Sin City, ikzelf doe dat ook. Ik zou er zelf ook wel willen rijden! Het is ongeveer mijn thuisrace dus het is perfect. Ik denk dat het iets nieuws gaat toevoegen aan de kalender."

Old skool

Button weet dan ook dat veel mensen felle kritiek hebben op het feit dat er steeds meer bijzondere Grands Prix worden toegevoegd aan de kalender. Dit gaat vaak ten koste van klassiekers. Button: "Ik ben dol op old skool banen zoals Spa, Monaco en Suzuka. Maar Vegas brengt iets nieuws naar de sport. De sfeer zal bijzonder zijn. Las Vegas is zo'n gave plek en als de Formule 1 erbij komt, dan wordt het de perfecte show."

Komen al die bekende film en popsterren ook nog ff 'n duit in het zakkie doen natuurlijk.

En dat alles voor de knaken......en dat mag natuurlijk, maar het gaat wel ten koste van de wortels van het racen, en dat is op de vaste circuits.

Alles is nep bij die Amerikanen, die shows dat zal wel werken voor hun sporten, de F1 mag wat mijn aangaat weg uit de VS.

Oogt als een saai baantje waarbij ik sommige Formule E circuits nog meer vind hebben dan dat Viva Las Vegas.
