Domenicali trots op nieuw contract Zandvoort: "Race brengt geweldige energie"

Vanochtend werd bekend dat de Nederlandse Grand Prix tot tenminste 2025 op de Formule 1-kalender staat. De organisatie van de Grand Prix op het circuit van Zandvoort ondertekende een nieuw contract en dat zorgde voor blijdschap. Ook Formule 1-CEO Stefano Domenicali reageert verheugd op het nieuws.

De Nederlandse Grand Prix keerde vorig jaar terug op de Formule 1-kalender. In eerste instantie was het de bedoeling om de Grand Prix in 2020 te organiseren maar het coronavirus gooide roet in het eten. De editie van vorig jaar en de editie van dit seizoen waren een groot succes en prominenten gaven de Nederlandse organisatie louter complimenten.

Ook Formule 1-CEO Stefano Domenicali was louter positief. De Italiaan deelde zijn complimenten uit en reageert in een persbericht enthousiast: "De Nederlandse Grand Prix is in een korte tijd uitgegroeid tot een favoriet van de fans. De race brengt een geweldige energie en ervaring voor de fans. De uitverkochte edities van de afgelopen twee jaar hebben de lat voor het organiseren van een race, entertainment en duurzaamheid hoger gelegd. We zijn trots dat we onze samenwerking hebben verlengd."

Zandvoort heeft natuurlijk ook wel mazzel gehad. 2 edities met mooi weer en 2 edities waar max won. Dat doet de sfeer goed. Voor mij is het meer een koningsdagfeestje dan een autosport evenement geworden. Ook leuk maar ik ben niet de doelgroep.

    Zandvoort heeft natuurlijk ook wel mazzel gehad. 2 edities met mooi weer en 2 edities waar max won. Dat doet de sfeer goed. Voor mij is het meer een koningsdagfeestje dan een autosport evenement geworden. Ook leuk maar ik ben niet de doelgroep.

      Dat was vanaf het allereerste moment ook de insteek; een evenement in festival sfeer waar van alles te doen is voor de gehele familie en waar ook geracet gaat worden.
      Nou, daarmee zijn ze in ieder geval vernieuwend gebleken.

    Dat de Dutch Grand Prix populair is, blijkt uit de verkoopcijfers. Alle kaarten voor de race in 2023 zijn inmiddels verkocht. De organisatie meldt dat het in totaal anderhalf miljoen ticketaanvragen kreeg.

    Jan Lammers, sportief directeur van de Dutch GP, kijkt uit naar de komende Grands Prix en stelt dat de organisatie graag het F1-evenement van de toekomst wil neerzetten.
    "Met geweldige races waarin de Nederlandse fans nu kunnen genieten van maar liefst twee Nederlandse coureurs in de hoogste klasse van de autosport.
    We bieden natuurlijk weer een uitgebreid en verrassend entertainmentprogramma waarmee we inzetten op het creëren van een ultimate race festival. De wereld willen we weer laten ervaren hoe wij als Nederland een oranje-evenement organiseren", aldus Lammers, die trots is op de Dutch Grand Prix.

    "Het is uniek dat we op de kalender staan met wereldsteden als Las Vegas, Monaco en São Paulo. En, zoals we dat intern zeggen, zijn we ‘Ready for Tomorrow'.
    We moeten en willen het F1-evenement van de toekomst neerzetten, dat is niet per se groter maar wel beter, intenser, meer beleving, duurzamer en inclusiever."
