Australische Grand Prix verlengt contract maar verliest 2024-seizoensopener

De Australische Grand Prix zal voorlopig niet van de Formule 1-kalender gaan verdwijnen. De organisatie van de Grand Prix op het circuit van Albert Park in Melbourne tekende eerder dit jaar een nieuw contract en vandaag werd dit verlengd. De Grand Prix staat nu tot en met 2037 op de kalender.

Eerder dit jaar ondertekende de organisatie van de Australische Grand Prix een nieuw contract waardoor ze tot en met 2035 onderdeel zijn van het Formule 1-circus. Vandaag werd dit contract opengebroken en kwamen daar dus nog eens minimaal 2 jaar bij. Dit betekent dus dat de Grand Prix de komende 15 jaar nog zal blijven bestaan en dat Albert Park niet van de kalender verdwijnt.

Het hernieuwde contract heeft er wel voor gezorgd dat een eerdere belofte de prullenbak in kan. Het was namelijk eerst de bedoeling dat de Australische Grand Prix in 2024 en 2025 de seizoensopener zou zijn. Dit is nu echter aangepast aangezien de organisatoren van de Bahreinse en Saoedische Grand Prix hebben gevraagd of hun races niet tijdens de ramadan kunnen worden georganiseerd in 2024. De ramadan  vindt in 2024 plaats van 10 maart tot en met 9 april. De seizoensopener zal dan plaatsvinden voor de ramadan. Dat betekent dus dat Bahrein of Saoedi-Arabië het 2024-seizoen mag aftrappen.

Het val me op dat deze zandbak landen wel heel erg veel invloeden krijgen in het wereldwijde wel en wee.

    Het val me op dat deze zandbak landen wel heel erg veel invloeden krijgen in het wereldwijde wel en wee.
    Niet alleen sportief gezien, maar ook politiek en cultureel.
    En allemaal van hun enorme rijkdommen vanwege de expoitatie van olierijke grondstoffen en de verwerpingen van het humane gedachtengoed zijn verworven waardoor hun macht nu mondiaal lijkt te reiken.
