MP Motorsport neemt deel aan nieuwe F1 Academy-klasse in 2023

Vorige maand kondigde de Formule 1 een nieuwe opstapklasse voor getalenteerde vrouwelijke coureurs aan. In de F1 Academy krijgen vijftien vrouwelijke coureurs de kans om te laten zien wat ze kunnen. Vandaag heeft de Formule 1 bekend gemaakt welke teams gaan deelnemen aan deze klasse.

Het startveld van de F1 Academy zal volgend jaar bestaan uit vijftien coureurs verdeeld over vijf teams. Dat betekent dus dat elk team met drie coureurs zal gaan rijden. Het is duidelijk dat de sport de klasse serieus neemt, de F1 Academy krijgt een plekje in het voorprogramma van de Formule 1 maar zal niet gaan fungeren als vervanger van de W Series.

Vandaag maakte men de vijf teams bekend die actief zullen zijn in de F1 Academy. Het is duidelijk dat men niet zomaar een paar teams heeft geselecteerd. De bekende teams van ART, Campos Racing, Carlin, PREMA en het Nederlandse MP Motorsport zullen hun opwachting gaan maken in de klasse. Alle teams zijn ook actief in de Formule 2 en/of de Formule 3. MP Motorsports werd dit jaar Formule 2-kampioen met Felipe Drugovich.

Shyanne, die geen race achtergrond heeft en geen ervaring in de autosport, is desalniettemin zeer overtuigd van haar kunnen.
“Ik heb zes jaar lang de toneelschool gedaan, ik zing, dans, componeer, acteer en ben al 12 jaar ongeslagen in Monopolie zonder daarbij ooit alle 4 de stations tegelijk in bezit te hebben gehad. Volgens mij heb ik alle kwaliteiten in huis om een groot kampioen te worden.”
Anthony wilde niet publiekelijk reageren maar laat bij monde van Nicolas weten “erg trots te zijn” en “het volste vertrouwen” te hebben.
“Shyanne is de meest dramatische uit de familie, als iemand hoge ogen kan gooien is zij het wel, dat blijkt ook wel uit haar 12 jaar lang ongeslagen status met monopolie” aldus een terughoudende Anthony H.
MP Motorsport wilde noch kon de geruchten bevestigen maar liet wel weten dat “12 jaar lang ongeslagen blijven in welk spelletje dan ook respect verdiend” en “dat wij de ogen voor dergelijke feiten niet lichtzinnig sluiten”.

Toch is het gek dat er een aparte klasse voor vrouwen is omdat vrouwen niet worden uitgesloten in de andere klasses. Ze mogen gewoon F1, F2, F3 en F4 rijden. Ze mogen Indycar, Nascar en wat je ook maar kan bedenken rijden. Waarom dan toch een aparte klasse? Maar als je nu als man wilt deelnemen aan deze klasse mag het weer en daar hoor je Lewis niet over.

  Precies. ‘We willen ons graag meten met mannen en gelijke kansen krijgen’ om vervolgens een aparte klasse op te richten waaraan mannen niet deelnemen en het startveld ook veel te klein is om een serieuze opmaat te zijn naar een hoger plan.
  
  Zorg dan gewoon voor extra steun voor talentvolle dames zodat ze zich in opstapklassen bij goede teams kunnen laten zien.
