Brundle verwacht dat concurrentie kan profiteren van teambazencarrousel Ferrari

Het team van Ferrari kwam deze week in het nieuws met de aanstelling van Frédéric Vasseur als nieuwe teambaas. De Fransman wordt de opvolger van Mattia Binotto en verlaat daarvoor het team van Alfa Romeo. Martin Brundle denkt dat de concurrentie zal gaan profiteren van de teambazenwisseling bij Ferrari.

De komst van Vasseur hing al geruime tijd in de lucht, de Fransman is een goede bekende van Ferrari-coureur Charles Leclerc en wordt gezien als een sterke teambaas. Binotto kondigde een aantal weken daarvoor zijn vertrek aan, de Italiaans stond onder immense druk bij het team en voelde volgens Italiaanse media geen steun vanuit de Ferrari-top.

Oud-coureur en huidig commentator Martin Brundle denkt dat Red Bull Racing en Mercedes zullen gaan profiteren van de situatie. Brundle doet zijn uitspraken in gesprek met zijn werkgever Sky Sports: "Ik kan maar niet bedenken waarom Ferrari ervoor kiest om juist nu zonder teambaas te zitten voor een maand. Ik denk dat ze Binotto meer tijd hadden moeten gunnen. Als ik Mercedes of Red Bull was zou ik in mijn vuistje lachen. Continuïteit is immers een groot goed. In tijden waarin de kalender groeit moet je voorzichtig zijn met personele veranderingen."
