FIA stelt regels in voor voormalige FIA-presidenten

Autosportfederatie FIA heeft maatregelen genomen om te voorkomen dat kopstukken van de organisatie te vroeg overstappen naar teams. In het verleden kwam dit een enkele keer voor maar men heeft nu ingegrepen. De FIA heeft namelijk een nieuw artikel toegevoegd aan de Internationale Sporting Code.

Begin dit jaar gingen er geruchten rond dat aftredend FIA-president Jean Todt mogelijk een adviseursrol zou gaan bekleden bij het team van Ferrari. De Fransman kende in het verleden al de nodige successen bij de renstal en een terugkeer zou dan ook niet vreemd zijn. Uiteindelijk bleken de geruchten niet te kloppen en keerde Todt niet terug naar de Italiaanse renstal.

Om te voorkomen dat dit soort situaties in de toekomst wel gebeuren heeft de FIA nu ingegrepen. Men heeft in de Internationale Sporting Code artikel 9.17 toegevoegd. Volgens dit artikel mogen teams in een FIA-kampioenschap niet profiteren van de kennis van een voormalig FIA-president of een voormalig deputy president van de FIA. Een voormalig president van de FIA mag zes maanden lang niet in dienst treden van een team. Dit om ervoor te zorgen dat er geen vertrouwelijke informatie kan worden doorgespeeld.
