Hamilton neemt het op voor racistisch bejegende voetballers

Afgelopen weekend vond in Qatar de finale van het WK-voetbal plaats. Na strafschoppen ging de wereldtitel naar Argentinië ten koste van Frankrijk. Een aantal Franse voetballers werden na afloop racistisch bejegend op social media. Mercedes-coureur Lewis Hamilton neemt het op voor de Franse spelers.

Hamilton staat bekend om zijn strijd tegen racisme. De Britse Mercedes-coureur toonde zijn activisme in de afgelopen jaren in de Formule 1. De zevenvoudig wereldkampioen richt zich op Instagram tot de voetballers Aurélien Tchouaméni en Randal Kolo Muani. Hamilton is fel: "Ik walg hiervan maar ik ben niet verbaasd. Tchouaméni en Kolo Muani hebben alles geven. Ze zijn helden voor velen en ze verdienen veel meer respect."

Nee Tyla, vroegah was het nog veel erger. Een voetbalwedstrijd van FC Den Haag in de jaren 80, die nu gespeeld zou worden met een donkere speler op het veld, zou wereldwijd de voorpagina's van alle kranten halen en een social-mediastorm met windkracht 12 veroorzaken.     Ligt het aan mij die gelooft in de goede oude tijd, of was het grote deel van het volk destijds meer beschaafd dan nu?

    Ook toen hoorde je wel eens verwijzingen van "die donkere meneer/mevrouw", maar vandaag de dag lijkt het alsof elke verwijzing ook maar direct hartverscheurend moet zijn bij sommige typen...

    Ook zijn de beledigingen erg veranderd in de zogenaamde stoere kroegtaal... "je moeder is een h**r" was vroeger gewoon "vrouw van lichte zeden" ook dat keur ik niet goed, maar t lag er allemaal even wat minder dik er bovenop dan nu.

    Ik kijk met verbazing wel eens op wat er tussen vriendengroepen naar elkaar geroepen wordt... t kan bijna niet anders dat je daar op een bepaald moment door breekt.

Racisme is fout. Maar cancelcultuur, influencers, wokisme, Tiktok, Twitter enz. zijn nog veel erger. In dat opzicht was het leven in de jaren 80 een stuk simpeler maar minder zwart/ wit dan nu.

      Ik weet niet hoe oud jij bent, maar ik ben al redelijk bejaard en in mijn herinnering was het in de jaren 80 net zo erg. K@nk#rh03r werd toen ook al gebezigd. Wellicht dat t scheelt als je uit regio Den Haag komt 😁

      Ik zelf zat in de 80 in t wat rustigere zuiden... inmiddels bijna het wilde westen van Nederland. Ben t er mee eens dat bepaalde regio's buitensporig grof waren en agressief, maar ik krijg soms de indruk dat deze regios velen malen groter zijn geworden.

      Dat gecancel en woke dat je direct een stempel geeft is idd ook geen prettige verbetering.

      In de 80 er jaren las je op maandag wel in de telesport pagina als er leuzen geroepen werden maar dan was het onderwerp afgesloten. Met social media heb je meer platformen waar alles doorwoekert.

      Vroeger was het veel erger. Lazio is kennelijk geeneens een recustenclub meer. In de jaren 90 zag je daar gewoon nazi en fascistische symbolen en werd iedere donkere speler met apengeluiden 'begroet'. Tegenwoordig spelen daar zelfs donkere spelers. Toen alleen Aron Winter op de een of andere manier en wel 5 jaar. Hij was wel 'hun negertje', maar toch. Andere donkere spelers zijn met de dood bedreigd toen ook maar de geruchten kwamen dat Lazio ze wilde inlijven.

      @mdc33 Erger als in dat het meer voor komt? Of dat je liever racisme ziet dan dat mensen de steun van het brede publiek kwijtraken?

      Sowieso noem je een rijtje van dingen die heel verschillend zijn. Woorden als 'woke' of 'SJWs' zoals ze vroeger genoemd werden zijn stropoppen in de meeste gevallen. Mensen die roepen over cancelculruur hebben het in de meeste gevallen over dingen die helemaal niet over canvelling gaan.
