Willis: "Schema voor 2012 krap, HRT heeft meer middelen nodig"

HRT-technisch directeur Geoff Willis luidt de noodklok bij HRT. Wil de Spaanse equipe ooit de achterste rangen achter zich laten, dan moeten er meer financiële en personele middelen komen. Bovendien kan het team bij de ontwikkeling van de auto voor 2012 geen enkele tegenslag gebruiken.

Willis deelde aan Auto Motor und Sport: We moeten ons op elk vlak verbeteren. Ik wil niet negatief klinken, maar we hebben dringend meer middelen nodig. Dat is vereist om binnen twee jaar de achterhoede te verlaten. Onze aerodynamische afdeling kan bijvoorbeeld meer mensen goed gebruiken. In de productie moeten onze kwaliteitscontrole en tests beter. We kunnen het ons niet veroorloven om die aspecten niet goed in te vullen.

Natuurlijk werken ook wij al aan de auto voor 2012, sinds juni. Maar ons schema om op tijd klaar te zijn is erg krap. We hebben niet de middelen waar ik over zou willen beschikken. Veel mensen binnen het team moeten meerdere taken tegelijk uitvoeren.
