'Organisatie Chinese Grand Prix aast alsnog op plekje op F1-kalender'

Op de Formule 1-kalender voor 2023 is momenteel een plekje vrij. De Chinese Grand Prix werd eind 2022 immers van de kalender voor 2023 geschrapt, dit had te maken met de coronasituatie in het land. Recent zijn in China de coronaregels flink versoepeld en de organisatie van de Chinese Grand Prix aast alsnog op een plekje op de kalender.

De coronacrisis zorgde ervoor dat de Chinese Grand Prix nabij Shanghai in de afgelopen jaren niet op de Formule 1-kalender stond. In 2020, 2021 en 2022 werd de Grand Prix gecanceld. Opvallend genoeg verscheen de Grand Prix wel op de voorlopige kalender voor 2023, op het moment dat de kalender werd gepresenteerd waren de COVID-regels in China echter nog heel streng. De Formule 1 koos uiteindelijk eieren voor zijn geld en schrapte de Grand Prix alsnog.

In de tussentijd zijn de coronamaatregelen in China echter flink versoepeld. Volgens Motorsport.com aast de organisatie van de Chinese Grand Prix alsnog op een plekje op de Formule 1-kalender van dit jaar. Het medium meldt dat er zelfs al wordt gesproken met de hoge heren van de Formule 1. Of de comeback een feit wordt, is nog niet duidelijk. Momenteel zijn de besmettingscijfers in China zeer hoog en het is de vraag of de originele datum van de Grand Prix niet te vroeg komt.

Compleet off-topic... Verschrikkelijk nieuws. Ken Block is vanacht (NL tijd) overleden in een sneeuwscooter ongeluk. Een man die Rally en Rallycros voor velen op de kaart gezet door het toegankelijker te maken door met HOONIGANS de Gymkhana serie te maken.
