Cadillac trots op F1-plannen: "Historisch moment in de geschiedenis van de autosport"

Gisteren maakten Andretti en Cadillac hun gezamenlijke interesse in de stap naar de Formule 1 bekend. De interesse van Andretti was al geruime tijd bekend maar de aanwezigheid van Cadillac was voor velen een verrassing. Bij het merk van General Motors barst men in ieder geval van de ambitie.

Andretti en Cadillac maakten gisteren bekend dat ze met een nieuw team de koningsklasse van de autosport willen gaan betreden. Andretti jaagt al geruime tijd op een plekje op de grid van de Formule 1. De Amerikaanse racefamilie wilde al eerder het team van Sauber overnemen maar heeft nu met de samenwerking met Cadillac een sterke zekerheid in handen.

Historisch moment

In het persbericht van de aankondiging van het nieuws reageerde General Motors zeer positief. Het Amerikaanse autobedrijf is zeer ambitieus en General Motors-president Mark Reuss spreekt zich uit in het persbericht: "General Motors is trots op de samenwerking met Andretti Global voor dit historisch moment in de geschiedenis van de autosport. We hebben een lange geschiedenis in de autosport en in engineering innovatie. We zijn trots op deze samenwerking waarmee we een Amerikaans team hopen te vormen."

Geschiedenis

Reuss is van mening dat de komst van General Motors naar de Formule 1 zeer goed zal zijn voor de sport. De Amerikaan ziet een zonnige toekomst voor zich: "Cadillac en de Formule 1 hebben allebei een groeiende wereldwijde aantrekkingskracht. Ons merk kent een geschiedenis in de autosport die al meer dan een eeuw oud is. We zijn trots op het feit dat we de kans hebben om onze Amerikaanse innovaties naar de Formule 1 te brengen."

Ik hoop echt dat het waar is en dat Cadillac dit serieus benadert en niet het alleen maar om publiciteit gaat.

  Misschien moet de schrijvert wat minder schrijfpolitieagent uithangen en i.p.d inhoudelijk discussie voeren.
