Aston Martin-tijdperk voor Vandoorne met eerste werkdag officieel van start

Stoffel Vandoorne maakt officieel deel uit van het F1-kamp van Aston Martin. De 2022-wereldkampioen van de Formule E tekende in de slotfase van het afgelopen jaar een contract bij het opkomende Formule 1-team van Aston Martin, om het team vooral met simulator- en ontwikkelingswerk te ondersteunen. Nu de eerste week van 2023 alweer achter de rug is, heeft Vandoorne zijn eerste werkdag al voltooid.

Stoffel Vandoorne zal ongetwijfeld van mening zijn dat 2022 een goed jaar was. De wereldtitel in de Formule E op zak, en een belangrijke stap dichterbij een Formule 1-terugkomst. In zijn reserverol – de Belg zal zijn taken met 2022’s F2-kampioen Felipe Drugovich moeten delen – zal Vandoorne vooral aan het werk gezet worden om het groengekleurde Britse team van Aston Martin een stap dichterbij de top van de koningsklasse te laten maken. De dertigjarige Belg zal vooral het simulator- en ontwikkelingswerk gaan uitvoeren; met zijn flinke lading race-ervaring op zak hoopt de Britse renstal al in 2023 een flinke progressie te maken.
