Andretti dankt Alpine en Zak Brown voor steun F1-project

Vorige week werd duidelijk dat Andretti en Cadillac gezamenlijk de Formule 1 willen betreden. De twee Amerikaanse grootheden hebben zeer serieuze plannen voor een nieuw team, maar de reacties zijn nog niet bijster positief. Michael Andretti ziet echter dat er wel wat steun is vanuit het huidige Formule 1-veld.

Andretti heeft al geruime tijd interesse in de koningsklasse van de autosport. De bekende Amerikaanse racefamilie heeft al zeer lang het idee voor een eigen Formule 1-team. Men wilde eerste het team van Sauber overnemen maar dat liep in de soep. Michael Andretti en consorten richtten daarna hun peilen op het opzetten van een nieuw team. Met de steun van Cadillac hopen ze op een toetreding tot de Formule 1.

Naast FIA-president Mohammed Ben Sulayem reageerden slechts weinig kopstukken van de sport positief op het nieuws van Andretti. De huidige Formule 1-teams zitten niet te wachten op een nieuwe renstal in de sport. Michael Andretti laat aan Forbes weten dat er echter wel steun is vanuit het Formule 1-veld: "McLaren-CEO Zak Brown wil er alles aan gaan doen om ons te helpen, het team van Alpine doet dat ook. Zak Brown en het team van Alpine zijn twee goede bondgenoten."

Alpine snap ik wel, die willen graag motoren leveren (Cadillac / GM zullen in eerste instantie in ieder geval niet optreden als motorleverancier). McLaren en Andretti rijden al samen in de Indycar, dus ook vanuit die kant snap ik het wel.

Waarom 13 licenties beschikbaar hebben als er maar 10 mogen worden gebruikt...

In werkelijkheid is de F1 maar 76,9% van hun absolute waarde aan het verkopen dus.

  Hebben nu al overeenkomst voor 2024 met Renault maar niet duidelijk voor hoe lang. Zou wel eens korte samenwerking kunnen zijn als Honda ´terug´komt. Daar rijden ze al jaren mee in andere disciplines en ook GM maakt gebruik van Honda motoren
