Shwartzman blijft Ferrari-reserve en gaat in GT World Challenge Europe rijden

Het team van Ferrari maakte gisteren bekend wat eerder al was uitgelekt, Robert Shwartzman en Antonio Giovinazzi worden reservecoureurs en Antonio Fuoco en Davide Rigon zijn de simulatorcoureurs van het team. Shwartzman zal daarnaast ook voor Ferrari gaan racen in een opvallende klasse.

Shwartzman fungeerde afgelopen jaar als de reservecoureur van het team van Ferrari. De Israëlische-Rus was bij veel Grands Prix aanwezig en mocht voor het eerst in zijn loopbaan in actie komen tijdens een officiële Formule 1-sessie. Tweemaal mocht hij een eerste vrije training voor zijn rekening nemen, dit had vanzelfsprekend te maken met de regelgeving omtrent de rookies.

Shwartzman liet op sociale media zelf weten wat hij aankomend jaar gaat doen. De Ferrari-reserve dankte zijn werkgever op Twitter: "Ik ben trots dat ik aan mag blijven als reservecoureur van het team van Ferrari. Ik ben blij dat ik mijn reis met de Ferrari-familie mag blijven doorzetten. Ik kijk ernaar uit om weer achter het stuur te kruipen van de Formule 1-wagen en om te gaan rijden in de GT World Challenge Europe met Competizioni GT."
