Aston Martin: Auto van 2023 is 'compleet anders' dan 2022-versie

In een poging om grote stappen dichterbij de gebruikelijke top van de Formule 1 te komen, is het team van Aston Martin achter de schermen druk bezig om haar ambitieuze doelstellingen in de nabije toekomst te kunnen bewerkstelligen. Volgens technisch hoofd Eric Blandin zal de 2023-wagen radicaal verschillen met de versie van het afgelopen seizoen.

Het team van Aston Martin laat met de bouw van een geheel nieuw hoofdkwartier en windtunnel aan haar concurrenten zien dat het in de toekomst zomaar tot een serieuze titelkandidaat kan transformeren. Ook zal tweevoudig wereldkampioen Fernando Alonso zich bij het team aansluiten, om zo de basis te leggen voor toekomstig succes. De AMR23-bolide van Astin Martin zal, naast het daaropvolgende jaar, een overbrugging zijn richting de wagen van 2025, het jaar waarin de eerste effecten van de nieuwe windtunnel op de auto gerepresenteerd zouden moeten worden.

Volgens technisch hoofd Eric Blandin heeft zijn team 'geleerd van de AMR22-bolide van vorig jaar', waardoor het uiteindelijk met een radicaal andere auto op de proppen zal komen; volgens de Franse aerodynamicus zal de 2023-auto op aerodynamisch vlak 'meer dan 95%' van haar voorganger verschillen. Blandin meent dat de auto van 2022 ‘een soort laboratorium’ werd; een testobject waar het team al haar verschillende aerodynamische concepten erop kon uitleven om zo te zien wat wel, of niet werkt.

Ook laat de ingenieur weten dat het team haar fans wat betreft de lancering van de AMR23 zeker niet zal teleurstellen: "We gaan, net zoals vorig jaar, (tijdens de geplande lanceerdatum) de echte auto tentoonstellen. De auto die we op 13 februari in Silverstone gaan laten zien, zal de echte AMR23 zijn. We zullen de fans niet teleurstellen", meent Blandin.

Verder is Blandin van mening dat de komst van Fernando Alonso een ontzettend grote aanwinst is. Volgens de Fransman zal Alonso het team helpen een hoger niveau te bereiken. "Fernando is een exceptionele coureur. Er zijn er niet veel op de grid die van zijn kaliber zijn – je kunt ze op één hand tellen. Hij is zo gepassioneerd en extreem gedreven. Na alle successen die hij heeft behaald, heeft hij nog steeds die onhoudbare honger om te winnen. Hij zal ons naar een nieuw niveau helpen. We hebben nu een sterk rijdersduo, nu is het aan ons om hen een competitieve auto te geven", sluit Blandin af.

  Hij zegt niet waarin ze sterk zijn.. Vraag me alleen af waarin Lance sterk zou kunnen zijn. Wellicht in het starten van een race (vooral in regen), maar wat wil je als je altijd achteraan start...

  MennoB85@ Lance heeft best prima races wanneer hij op een alternatieve strategie wordt gezet en hij niet of nauwelijks in aanraking komt met andere coureurs om hem heen. Dan rijdt hij ineens toch op plaats 7 of 8 om dan in de laatste 5 rondjes nog terug te zakken naar 9, 10 of 11.
  
  Helaas ook te vaak races wat zijn imago weer helemaal verpest.

  Martinus63@ Geen idee, bij mij heeft hij nog wel wat krediet door een aantal goede races van P18 of slechter de top 10 in.
  
  Bij jou kennelijk niet, dus het antwoord op de vraag die je stelt, heb je zelf het antwoord al op... hoe heeft hij het bij jou verpest na zijn pole en 3 podia (waar je nog best iets van talent voor nodig bent)??

Ik verwacht best veel van Aston Martin, heb er vertrouwen in dat ze om de 4e plek gaan strijden bij de constructeurs.
