Welke autosport totdat Formule 1 uit de winterslaap komt?

Autosportliefhebbers moeten nog even geduld hebben voordat de koningsklasse uit de winterslaap komt. Toch is er nog genoeg te beleven in de racerij tot aan de start van het F1-pre-season-test in Bahrein op donderdag 23 februari.

Januari

De 24 van uur van Daytona is een van de belangrijkste klassiekers op het gebied van langeaflangeafstandsraces. IndyCar-coureur Rinus 'VeeKay' van Kalmthout, Renger van der Zande, Giedo van der Garde en Job van Uitert zijn onder andere van de partij. De start is zaterdag 28 januari19:40 uur Nederlandse tijd. De Formule E begint donder 26 januari aan het tweede weekend door de straten van Riyadh in Saoedi-Arabië. Robin Frijns zal niet aan de start verschijnen vanwege een gebroken pols die hij opliep bij de ePrix van Mexico en wordt vervangen door DTM-coureur Kelvin van der Linde. De serie is te volgen op ZiggoSport.

Ook is de Race of Champions in Zweden met bekende autosportprominenten zoals Valtteri Bottas, Sebastian Vettel, Mick Schumacher, Sebastien Loeb en Mika Häkkinen. Alle coureurs strijden in landenteams tegen elkaar in uiteenlopende racewagens. Het evenement begint op zaterdag 28 januari.

De FRECA-competitie in de Verenigde Emiraten met veel bekende Europese talenten gaat verder in Koeweit voor de tweede ronde. Op 27 en 28 januari worden in totaal drie races afgewerkt. Duits en Italiaans F4-kampioen Kimi Antonelli leidt het kampioenschap. Ronde drie op hetzelfde circuit is meteen daarna vanaf 31 januari. Deze races zijn te volgen via YouTube op het officiële kanaal van de organisator.

Februari

Het Verenigde Emiraten FRECA-kampioenschap heeft de eennalaatste ronde op 11 en 12 februari. Het slotweekend is 18 en 19 februari.

De 12 uur van Bathurst is ook in deze wintermaand. Met verschillende GT-wagens van onder andere Ferrari, BMW of Audi. De coureurs rijden op het zeer heuvelachtige verraderlijke Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit Bathurst. Twee weken later rijdt het kampioenschap vrijdag 25 februari de Kyalami 9 hour in Zuid-Afrika.

De Formule E vervolgt de titelstrijd op 11 februari in Hyderabad in India voor de derde ronde van het kampioenschap. Twee weken later op 25 februari is het elekrtische circus in Kaapstad.
