Michael Bleekemolen gewond in ziekenhuis na ski-ongeluk

Voormalig F1-coureur Michael Bleekemolen is in Oostenrijk gewond geraakt na een ski-ongeluk op de piste. Tijdens een afdaling botste de Nederlander op een snowboarder met als gevolg vier gebroken ribben, een doorboorde long en waarschijnlijk een gebroken schouder. Ook was hij circa een half uur bewustenloos. Per helikopter was de 73-jarige Bleekemolen afgevoerd naar het ziekenhuis.

Dit nieuws werd gemeld door Grand Prix Radio na de toestemming van de familie Bleekemolen, het station waar Olav Mol online verslag doet van de F1-wedstrijden. Bleekemolen is daar een vaste gast bij de uitzending F1 aan tafel.

n 1976 werd Bleekemolen kampioen in de Nederlandse Formule Ford. Hij probeerde in 1977 via de Formule Super Vee naar de koningsklasse door te stromen. Bij de Grand Prix van Nederland gaf March hem de kans voor zijn eigen thuispubliek, maar kon zich niet kwalificeren voor de wedstrijd.

In 1978 - na drie mislukte pogingen - lukte dat uiteindelijk wel met ATS tijdens de Grand Prix van de Verenigde Staten op het roemruchte Watkins Glen. De finish haalde Bleekemolen senior niet door een olielek.

Na 1978 besloot Bleekemolen in de Formule 3 te gaan racen. Dat bracht hem meer succes. In de Formule 3 won hij tweemaal een wedstrijd om het Europees Kampioenschap. Eenmaal werd hij in eindklassement tweede achter viervoudig F1-kampioen Alain Prost. Na drie seizoenen in de F3 maakte hij de overstap naar de toerwagens.

Bleekemolen is voornamelijk bekend door zijn kartbanen van Race Planet in Amsterdam, Delf en Mijdrecht. Ook verzorgt de 73-jarige oud-coureur racecursussen op het circuit van Zandvoort. Tevens was hij de eerste persoon die in Nederland een indoorkartbaan opende (1993).

Oei, daar schrik ik van.
Het is een aardige man met een behoorlijk excentrieke persoonlijkheid.
Racen zit hem echt in het bloed.
Heb hem vaak mogen ontmoeten in mijn dagen als teamlid in de Seat Ibiza Cupra Cup en de Renault Clio Cup waar hij de "concurrent" was.
Hoop dat hij weer snel de oude wordt.

  Ik heb hem ontmoet tijdens een racedag met Race-Planet, toevallig ook met 'n gebroken been en hij bracht me van de parkeerplaats naar het circuit in zijn splinternieuwe Porsche.

Ik had al vroeg een Twitter bericht geplaatst, waarin Bleekemolen vanuit het ziekenhuis iets vertelt. Is nog steeds niet geplaatst, dus dan maar weer zo met haakjes.

  Your welcome. Olav had het geretweet gisteren en ik vond dat Bleekemolen er goed uitzag, wat natuurlijk niet wil zeggen dat hij geen pijn had, want dat moet haast wel.

Als je naar Delf gaat zul je geen kartbaan van Bleekemolen vinden hoor.
