Vettel maakt eerste racemeters sinds Formule 1-pensioen

Aankomend weekend wordt in het Zweedse Pite Havsbad de Race of Champions verreden. Er wordt geracet op sneeuw en ijs en het startveld is zeer sterk. Onder andere Sebastien Loeb, Valtteri Bottas, Mika Häkkinen en Petter Solberg staan op de deelnemerslijst. Ook Sebastian Vettel doet weer mee.

Voor Vettel wordt de Race of Champions zijn eerste wedstrijd sinds zijn Formule 1-pensioen. De Duitse viervoudig wereldkampioen hing immers na de Grand Prix van Abu Dhabi zijn helm aan de wilgen. Nu doet hij zijn helm weer op en zal hij in meerdere voertuigen in actie komen. Vettel vormt samen met Mick Schumacher team Duitsland en kwam gisteren in actie tijdens een aantal oefenrondjes. Zijn comeback in de racerij is dus nu alweer een feit.
