Seinen op groen voor langdurig verblijf Las Vegas op F1-kalender

Aankomend seizoen keert de Grand Prix van Las Vegas weer terug op de Formule 1-kalender. De bijzondere Grand Prix wordt verreden op 18 november en het lijkt erop dat de organisatie inzet op een langdurig verblijf op de kalender. De lokale politiek heeft nu in ieder geval een motie aangenomen die dat toestaat.

De Grand Prix van Las Vegas werd in 1981 en 1982 al verreden onder de noemer van de Grand Prix van Caesars Palace. De twee races werden verreden op het parkeerterrein van het gelijknamige hotel en het was alles behalve een succes. Aankomend seizoen keert de gokstad in de staat Nevada terug op de kalender en ditmaal wordt er dwars door het centrum gereden. Men rijdt langs veel grote casino's en zelfs de wereldberoemde Strip is onderdeel van het circuit.

Vorig jaar werd er een driejarig contract getekend, maar het lijkt er steeds meer en meer op dat de Grand Prix nog veel langer op de kalender zal staan. Er werd een resolutie ingediend bij de Clark County Commission om toestemming te krijgen om de komende tien jaar gebruik te mogen maken van de openbare wegen. De resolutie werd unaniem aangenomen en dus staan alle seinen op groen om tot en met minimaal 2032 op de Formule 1-kalender te staan.

      @koppie , we hebben ook de GP van Europa gehad op weet ik hoeveel verschillende circuits.
      De Gp van Belgie was op het circuit van Zolder en Francorchamps ....ach ga maar door.
