Tost heeft duidelijke boodschap voor Tsunoda: "Moet meer punten scoren"

Yuki Tsunoda staat aan de vooravond van zijn derde seizoen in dienst van AlphaTauri. De Japanner is de meest ervaren kracht bij zijn team en de druk op hem is dan ook hoog. AlphaTauri-teambaas Franz Tost hoopt erop dat Tsunoda aankomend seizoen genoeg punten bij elkaar gaat rijden.

Tsunoda had het vorig seizoen lastig in de koningsklasse van de autosport. De AlphaTauri was niet bepaald snel en Tsunoda zelf had het nog lastiger met zijn wagen. De Japanse coureur werd simpel verslagen door zijn toenmalige teamgenoot Pierre Gasly. Gasly is vertrokken naar Alpine en Tsunoda zal het binnen AlphaTauri gaan opnemen tegen zijn nieuwe teamgenoot Nyck de Vries.

Worstelen met de auto

AlphaTauri-teambaas Franz Tost gaat ervanuit dat Tsunoda dit jaar beter voor de dag gaat komen. De Oostenrijker heeft dan ook een belangrijke boodschap voor Tsunoda. Tost wordt geciteerd door Motorsportweek: "Vorig jaar had Yuki het lastig met de auto. Dit jaar verwacht ik dat de auto veel sneller dan zal, Yuki zal zijn vizier altijd moeten richten op het derde kwalificatiedeel en puntenscores in de races."

Punten scoren

Tost ziet daarnaast dat Tsunoda steeds meer ervaring heeft in de Formule 1. De Oostenrijkse teambaas heeft veel vertrouwen in zijn wagen: "Hij is een enorm sterke coureur en heeft al veel ervaring in de Formule 1 door zijn afgelopen twee seizoenen in de sport. Door die reden zal hij, vanzelfsprekend, veel meer punten moeten gaan scoren dan hij deed in het afgelopen Formule 1-seizoen."

Je weet dat elk team vorig jaar met een compleet nieuw concept moest komen? SAT heeft dus niets van de RB van 2021 over kunnen nemen.

Tamuma Sato stopt er na dit jaar mee. Honda heeft dan een Japanner nodig in Indycar... Yuki hoeft zich weinig zorgen te maken over zn toekomst. Hoefde volgens een interview niet persé F1 coureur te zijn.

  Hij hoeft niet perse een F1-coureur te zijn? Heeft hij dit gezegd? Bedoelde hij hiermee dat hij ook wel elders wilde rijden? Of dat hij überhaupt geen coureur hoeft te zijn? Want uit zijn Beyond the Grid-aflevering maakte ik op dat het sowieso nooit zijn droom was om coureur te zijn en dat hij het wel een makkelijke baan vond, als in dat het wel aardig is om zo je geld te verdienen, en dat hij het eigenlijk alleen daarom serieus is gaan nemen.

(ergens halverwege dit seizoen als hij zichzelf na een fantastische race weer eens te barsten rijdt en alles en iedereen vol scheldt en daarmee de schuld voor de zoveelste keer weer buiten zichzelf legt)

Helemaal mee eens, maar het wordt de hoogste tijd dat SAT de coureurs een fatsoenlijk wagen geeft en ze iemand met verstand van de bandenstrategie aannemen, want die er nu zit is nog veel erger dan die man bij Ferrari.

Qua schade kosten viel het met Yuki nog wel mee, want zijn schade was niet telkens zijn schuld.
