Massa ziet Red Bull nog steeds als favoriet ondanks budgetcapstraf

Het team van Red Bull Racing zal aankomend seizoen de constructeurstitel gaan verdedigen. De Oostenrijkse renstal zal dit echter wel moeten gaan doen met de gevolgen van de budgetcapstraf. Toch verwachten niet veel mensen problemen, Felipe Massa denkt dat Red Bull nog steeds de titelfavoriet is.

Red Bull kende vorig jaar een zeer sterk seizoen in de koningsklasse van de autosport. De Oostenrijkse renstal kende een lastige start van het jaar, maar al snel draaide men de zaakjes om en regende het zeges. Max Verstappen won een recordaantal Grands Prix en veroverde al in Japan de wereldtitel. De Nederlander en zijn team zullen dit jaar echter moeten dealen met de straf voor het overschrijden van de budgetcap in 2021.

Straatlengte voorsprong

Voormalig Formule 1-coureur Felipe Massa is van mening dat Red Bull nog steeds de favoriet is voor de wereldtitel. De Braziliaanse coureur spreekt zich uit bij La Gazzetta dello Sport: "Ze finishten vorig seizoen als eerste met een straatlengte voorsprong op de concurrentie, ze zullen ook het sterkste team blijven. Het is lastig om te zeggen of de sancties voor het overschrijden van de budgetcap ze echt zullen hinderen."

Ferrari

Het is de verwachting dat Ferrari aankomend seizoen één van de grootste rivalen van Red Bull zal zijn. De Italianen werden vorig seizoen verslagen door Red Bull. Massa denkt dat Ferrari het lastig zal krijgen: "Ze hadden een geweldige start in 2022 en ze verloren door betrouwbaarheidsproblemen, strategische fouten en foutjes van de coureurs. Maar, ze konden de ontwikkelingssnelheid van Red Bull niet volgen. Om te winnen moet je gewoon perfect zijn."

Goed gezien Flip!

Andere teams zullen het extra budget en windtunneltijd hard nodig hebben om de achterstand t.o.v. vorig jaar in te lopen.

  Ja, echt bijzonder hoe Massa onder woorden kan brengen hoe de vork precies in de steel zit. Nou moet wel gezegd worden dat tante Agaath uit Warmetuut - die de F1 nauwelijks volgt - al dezelfde conclusies had getrokken...

  Rimmer Overschrijden is vals spelen wat RBR deed, ze konden het niet op een eerlijke manier, daarom moesten ze cheaten. Max met twee fake titels opzak, daar kan je trots op zijn.

  @DWY het overschrijden van de motoren limiet is ook valsspelen. Voor iedere motor boven de limiet maakt de FIA een document aan met de titel "Offence". Waarop net als bij het overschrijden van de budget limiet door de FIA een passende straf wordt gegeven.
