Twee teams voeren shakedown uit in Bahrein

Morgen wordt het nieuwe Formule 1-seizoen officieus afgetrapt met de wintertest op het circuit van Sakhir in Bahrein. Gisteren werd er echter al gereden op de Bahreinse omloop in de woestijn. Twee teams voerden namelijk een shakedown uit daags voordat het echte werk wordt verricht.

Het team van McLaren had als enige renstal nog geen meter gereden met hun nieuwe wagen. De Britse renstal arriveerde echter vroeg in Bahrein om alsnog een aantal rondjes te rijden in de MCL60. Op sociale media deelde men een korte video waarin te zien is dat Lando Norris de pitlane uitrijdt in de nieuwe auto. Oscar Piastri nam daarna het stuur over van zijn Britse teamgenoot.

Naast het team van McLaren kwam ook het team van Haas in actie. De Amerikaanse renstal reed eerder ook al een paar rondjes met de nieuwe wagen en gisteren deden ze dat weer. Herintreder Nico Hülkenberg kreeg de kans om een handvol rondjes te draaien in Bahrein. De Duitser, die in 2019 voor het laatst een volledig seizoen in de Formule 1 reed, is dit jaar de teamgenoot van Kevin Magnussen. Het is niet duidelijk of de Deen in Bahrein ook in actie kwam.
