Video: Bekijk Vowles’ eerste interview als Williams-teambaas

Tijdens de winterstop maakte ook het Formule 1-team van Williams een grote verandering door. Voormalig Mercedes-topman James Vowles maakte de overstap naar de Britse renstal om de ruimte op te vullen door pensionado Jost Capito. Nu de driedaagse preseasontest op het punt staat om te beginnen, schuift Vowles bij Williams aan als teambaas. Bekijk hieronder het eerste interview van de Brit als teambaas van het legendarische Williams.

Voormalig Mercedes-topman James Vowles is inmiddels de officiële teambaas van Williams. De 43-jarige Vowles maakte onlangs zijn eerste werkdag bij zijn nieuwe werkgever, waar hij de leiding zal nemen over de renstal die weer terug wil gaan richting het succes dat vroeger vaak door het team geproefd werd.

In een exclusief interview vertelt de kersverse teambaas dat hij een meer dan staat te popelen om aan de slag te gaan: "De passie en het enthousiasme dat hier heerst heb ik ook. Ik kan niet wachten om te beginnen. Ik verkeer ik een positie waar ik de unieke kans én het vertrouwen heb gekregen om dit team voorwaarts te brengen. Ik zou geen betere plek kunnen verzinnen waar ik momenteel zou willen zijn", vertelt Vowles in een preview.

De altijd rustige en realistische James Vowles. Als ik hem ook nu in deze rol zo hoor dan denk ik van ja het gaat hem zeker lukken. Ik verwacht dat Williams veel plezier aan hem gaat beleven. Succes James.

Komt op dit moment heel rustig en relaxt over en vooral bezig met de lange termijn strategie. Tenminste zoals ze het nu brengen, want het is natuurlijk door het team zelf opgenomen. Maar komt op mij over als de rustige persoon achter Toto nu langzaam naar voren treed. Moet ik er wel eerlijk bij zeggen dat ik buiten de teambazen niet veel lees over de andere personen behalve als je het toevallig tegenkomt.

Ben erg benieuwd, denk dat hij met zijn mercedeservaring een goed team kan opbouwen om straks helemaal klaar te zijn voor of 2026
