Hülkenberg kijkt uit naar fulltime comeback: "Alle instincten kwamen tot leven"

Nico Hülkenberg staat aan de vooravond van zijn eerste volledige Formule 1-seizoen sinds 2019. De Duitse coureur gaat rijden voor het team van Haas en hij kijkt dan ook uit naar zijn comeback in de koningsklasse van de autosport. Hülkenberg denkt niet dat hij het kunstje is verleerd.

Hülkenberg kon na zijn Formule 1-exit in 2019 geen nieuw stoeltje meer vinden. De Duitse coureur werd daarna invaller bij Racing Point en Aston Martin. Naast de paar invalraces kwam Hülkenberg in geen enkele andere race in actie, toch gaat men er bij Haas vanuit dat de Duitser nog gewoon even sterk is als hij voorheen was.

Hülkenberg zelf gaat er ook vanuit dat alles goed gaat komen. De Duitse coureur kijkt uit naar de start van het seizoen en is daar duidelijk over in een persbericht van Haas: "Het is niet zo dat ik nooit weg ben geweest, maar ik race al bijna mijn gehele leven. Ik ben hiervoor getraind en ik denk dat het race-DNA zo diep in mij zit, dat ik direct weer wist wat ik moest doen. Alle instincten kwamen weer tot leven. Ik voelde mij heel erg goed tijdens de testdagen en daar ben ik heel erg blij mee. Na die dagen heb de data doorgenomen, getraind en ook gerelaxt."

    Echt een aardige vent, maar wat doet ie in hemelsnaam nog in de F1? Het degenereert de sport volledig op uitgerancheerde piloten te vertrouwen. Wat doet zo'n kerel zichzelf aan?
