De Heus eerste Nederlandse in nieuwe F1 Academy

De Formule 1 heeft voor dit jaar met de F1 Academy een speciale opstapklasse voor vrouwelijke talenten in het leven geroepen. Het startveld kreeg in de afgelopen weken al aardig vorm en vandaag is duidelijk geworden dat er ook een Nederlandse coureur aan de start zal staan.

Het Nederlandse team MP Motorsport maakte vandaag bekend dat ze Emely de Heus hebben gecontracteerd voor het eerste seizoen van de F1 Academy. De Heus reed vorig jaar in de W Series en eindigde het seizoen op de zeventiende plaats in het wereldkampioenschap. Ze wordt hij het team van MP Motorsport de teamgenoot van de zusjes Amna en Hamda al Qubaisi.

    Als je als vrouw kans wil maken op een plek in de F1, dan is 17e worden in de W-serie niet echt een sterke prestatie…

      Er is 'zoveel' talent dat ze van gekkigheid niet weten hoe ze een volledig veld vol moeten krijgen. Het is al een farce, voordat ze een meter gereden hebben. In de echte racewereld moeten ze zich met de mannen meten, dus er is maar één manier om vrouwelijk talent te ontwikkelen en dat is door in bijvoorbeeld de F3 en F2 één of twee damesteams te laten meedoen. Vrouwen hebben in deze sport geen extra kansen nodig. Als ze echt goed zijn, is er geen team dat ze zou weigeren.

      Wat meer zegt is dat de beste van die W serie zich niet staande kan houden voorin in een F3 veld. Dat er dan mensen zijn die vinden dat die hoe-heet-ze-ook-al-weer een kans moet krijgen in F1.

      Maar goed. We weten niet zeker of er toevallig nooit een jong meisje in die groep terecht komt die wel echt goed genoeg is. Het zou kunnen werken.

      Daar kom je, denk ik, sneller achter als je ze gewoon zou laten meedoen in de echte opstapklassen. Als een meisje dan heel goed presteert, zijn teams waarschijnlijk juist extra gretig om haar in te lijven.

      Helemaal mee eens. Enkel dat je bij voorbaat al weet dat die teams minder faciliteiten zullen hebben dan een Carlin of een Prema. Dus een beter idee is misschien dat 1 of 2 top teams verplicht 1 stoeltje ter beschikking stellen voor een dame.

      Maar vrouwen moeten toch gelijke kansen krijgen? Moet je kijken hoe scheef het nu in de top van de F1 teams zit, 10 teams en niet 1 vrouwelijke teambaas!

      @benettonB187; een zitje betalen zal goedkoper zijn dan een complete klasse onderhouden die haar doel voorbij schiet. Dus de FIA en de FOM kunnen dat prima ophoesten.

      Een vrouw met te weinig talent of vaardigheden in een F1 auto zetten, omdat het een vrouw is, heeft niets met gelijke kansen te maken. Mannen moeten het verdienen, dus vrouwen ook. Dat is gelijke behandeling. Vrouwen en mannen verschillen nou eenmaal van elkaar en hebben allemaal specifieke kwaliteiten. Misschien tijd om daar eens niet zo krampachtig over te doen.
