Ferrari lijkt te kiezen voor nieuw achtervleugeldesign in Jeddah

Het team van Ferrari testte in Bahrein met een opvallend design van de achtervleugel. De Italiaanse renstal heeft een achtervleugel ontworpen met slechts een enkele pilaar, in plaats van de gebruikelijke twee pilaren. Het nieuwe onderdeel werkte niet naar behoren, maar toch lijkt het erop dat men het dit weekend toch weer gaat gebruiken.

Ferrari testte tijdens de testweek en de vrije trainingen in Bahrein al met het onderdeel. Het ging echter niet goed, de vleugel was zeer beweeglijk en schudde alle kanten op tijdens de testrondjes. Tijdens de race reden zowel Charles Leclerc als Carlos Sainz dan ook met de oude achtervleugel. Foto's uit de pitlane lijken te verraden dat Ferrari dit weekend wél gaat rijden met de enkele pilaar. De wagens van Sainz en Leclerc zijn opgebouwd met de achtervleugel met enkele pilaar, of Ferrari er echt mee gaat racen is nog niet duidelijk.

    Hopelijk zit die achtervleugel wat beter vast dan bij de testdagen want toen zwabbere dat ding enorm heen en weer.

    Al waren er op Bahrein wel veel meer en hogere curbs, dus wellicht dat ze daarom denken dat die vleugel het hier beter zal doen.

    Charles Leclerc denies speaking to Ferrari chairman about concerns: ‘Absolutely untrue’

    Charles Leclerc denied seeking assurances from Ferrari’s chairman over the Formula 1 team’s future direction after its difficult start to the year in Bahrain, saying Thursday the suggestion is “absolutely untrue.”

    “This is absolutely untrue,” Leclerc said when asked if he’d spoken to Elkann, Ferrari’s chairman since 2018. “Again, there have been loads of rumors around the team, which, for once, 90 percent of them were completely unfounded.

    “I don’t know from where it is coming from, and to be honest, I don’t want to spend even any energy on trying to find from where it’s coming from. We just need to be on it and focused on ourselves.”

    The rumor mill has been rife since Ferrari’s rough start to the season in Bahrain. On Wednesday, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur said suggestions of tension between him and Ferrari’s CEO Benedetto Vigna were “gossip” and denied there was discontent within Ferrari.

    “I obviously saw these rumors, and then I went to Maranello,” said Leclerc. “At first, I was like, I’m not sure how the team is going to react to it. But then we’ve had a meeting with the whole team, with all the Ferrari employees, and I was really surprised.

    “Everybody is fully on it and fully positive still, which is great. We need to all push in the same direction. This is the most important thing to me.”

    Leclerc said there were “lots of voices” surrounding Ferrari after its difficult start in Bahrain, where his power unit failure led to a 10-place grid penalty that he will serve in Jeddah. He added that he was eager to “stop the talk and get back to driving” this weekend.
