Stella accepteert dominantie Red Bull: "Ze verdienen dit succes"

Het team van Red Bull Racing won de eerste twee races van het huidige Formule 1-seizoen. De voorsprong van de Red Bulls op de concurrentie was tweemaal zeer groot, niet iedereen is blij met deze heerschappij. McLaren-teambaas Andrea Stella vindt het niet erg dat Red Bull dominant is, hij wil het zelfs accepteren.

Red Bull kende vorig jaar een ijzersterk seizoen met Max Verstappen. Niet veel mensen hadden verwacht dat de Oostenrijkse renstal ook dit jaar weer zou gaan domineren in de koningsklasse van de autosport. De voorsprong op de rivaliserende teams is groot en Max Verstappen en Sergio Perez lijken onderling te gaan uitmaken wie er met de wereldtitel naar huis mag gaan.

Eerlijk

Veel fans balen van de dominantie van Red Bull. De andere teams lijken een andere mening te hebben. Veel coureurs en teambazen zien de zaakjes iets genuanceerder. Ook McLaren-teambaas Andrea Stella heeft een andere mening. In gesprek met de internationale media spreekt Stella zich uit: "Red Bull verdient dit succes. Het is aan ons om het beter te gaan doen en de uitdaging aan te gaan. Het verschil met de goede teams is kleiner geworden, Red Bull uitgezonderd. Als je een sprong kunt maken, dan kan je meestrijden om de punten."

Budgetcap

Stella denkt dan ook niet dat een ander team snel het tempo van Red Bull kan gaan volgen. De McLaren-teambaas bekijkt de zaak met een realistische bril en is eerlijk. Stella: "Misschien moeten we maar accepteren dat een team de sport domineert. De huidige voorsprong van Red Bull lijkt groot genoeg te zijn. Ze zullen dan ook maar weinig hinder gaan ondervinden van de straf voor het overschrijden van de budgetcap."

Veel fans balen juist ook (net als Stella) dat de andere teams niet beter hun best hebben gedaan en dat die teams een schop onder hun hol moeten krijgen.
Een positieve schop uiteraard om ze te motiveren...

Veel fans balen juist ook (net als Stella) dat de andere teams niet beter hun best hebben gedaan en dat die teams een schop onder hun hol moeten krijgen.
Een positieve schop uiteraard om ze te motiveren...

  Ik vind het bij geen enkel team leuk als ze zo gigantisch voor lopen op de rest.

  De wet van de remmende voorsprong doet met de BC geen opgeld de komende jaren...
  
  Ik baal overigens niet van die voorsprong, gewoon knap werk verricht door RBR.

  Klopt natuurlijk helemaal maar tegelijk goed dat die cap er nu eindelijk is, dat hadden ze er bij Bernie nooit doorgekregen. Als iedereen zich er aan houdt kan het op termijn automatisch spannend worden. Ze zouden hem wel mogen optrekken als alle teams het kunnen betalen ipv een dalende trend in te zetten. Het blijft tenslotte de koningsklasse van de autosport

Je staat stijf onderaan met Mclaren terwijl je toch echt goede rijders hebt. Ik zou als teambaas niet eens RBR in de mond nemen. Weer over de budgetcap beginnen is al helemaal de plank mis slaan. Mclaren heeft echt hopeloos gefaald de laatste jaren met dit jaar als dieptepunt.
