Domenicali erkent interesse Madrid in organiseren Grand Prix

Formule 1-CEO Stefano Domenicali was gisteren aanwezig bij de officieuze opening van de F1 Exhibition in de Spaanse hoofdstad Madrid. Het is bekend dat de interesse in de sport groot is en dat geldt ook voor de stad Madrid. Domenicali geeft namelijk toe dat men daar aast op een Grand Prix.

De Spaanse Grand Prix wordt al sinds jaar en dag gereden op het circuit nabij Barcelona. In deze eeuw werd er ook de Europese Grand Prix gereden op Spaans grondgebied, men reed immers op een stratencircuit in Valencia. De interesse vanuit Spanje is momenteel groot en ook Madrid wil een plekje veroveren op de kalender van de koningsklasse van de autosport.

De kalender is momenteel overvol en het is nog niet duidelijk waar men in Madrid wil racen. Domenicali geeft in ieder geval aan dat de interesse er is. In gesprek met Marca legt de Italiaanse CEO het uit: "Ze werken eraan om een Grand Prix te kunnen organiseren. De Formule 1 is blij dat er zoveel geïnteresseerden zijn voor races. De populariteit van de sport groeit wereldwijd en we kennen de bestaande passie in Spanje. Ik heb zelf samengewerkt met Fernando Alonso en ik ken hem goed."

Zeg nooit nooit

Of een Madrileense Grand Prix er ooit gaat komen, is nog hoogstens onduidelijk. Domenicali wil niets uitsluiten en is vooral zeer in zijn sas met de interesse: "Het is leuk om te zien hoe de interesse blijft groeien in Spanje, dat komt trouwens ook door Carlos Sainz. We zijn bekend met de interesse vanuit Madrid en natuurlijk ook Barcelona, dat is echt fantastisch nieuws voor ons. Je kan namelijk nooit nooit zeggen in je leven."

Pleur toch eens op met al die stratenraces man, en heb eens oog voor de historie en de echte circuits die ertoe doen zoals Spa bijv.

  Niemand zegt hier stratencircuit. Madrid is een stad én provincie, net als Utrecht. Misschien willen ze het circuit Jarama uitbreiden?

Houd nou een op in te gaan op verzoeken van stratencircuits...

Laat ze potdomme weer een baan aanleggen en dan direct bedenken welke extra verenigingen/faciliteiten gebruik willen en kunnen maken van hetzelfde stuk grond. Kartbanen, pretparken, waterparken weet ik t maar bundel de krachten met recreatie.

Een slechter circuit als dat in Valencia zullen ze vast wel niet kunnen tekenen?

  Valencia was qua circuit prima te pruimen. Het was alleen aangelegd in een gebied waarvan je zou zeggen dat de Sahara woestijn nog meer charme had.

  Valencia was een vreselijk circuit om te "racen". Het zal best een uitdaging geweest zijn voor de rijders, als publiek was het verschrikkelijk. Behalve de loterij van 2012 hebben we daar alleen maar saaie races gehad. Inhalen was er praktisch onmogelijk.

Van mij mogen ze ook alle stratenraces eruit gooien, ik ben bang dat het alleen maar meer zal worden.

  Schijnbaar de toekomst. Circuits worden steeds moeilijker onderhouden, en alle stratencircuits bewijzen dat het daar ook kan. Stratencircuits kun je overal opbouwen waar je bij een echt circuit verbonden aan bepaalde locaties. Als de grote steden genoeg geldschieters en een goede organisatie hebben, kunnen die tegenwoordig meer neerleggen dan die bij Circuits. Afgezien van F1 is de motorsport in mijn ogen achteruit aan het gaan, dat doet de circuits pijn.

  StevenQ@ Voor de MotoGP is t al aan de kleine kant. Plus de autos zijn bijna een keer zo groot aan vierkante centimeter dan toen der tijd.
  
  Volgens mij hebben ze nog eens een test gehad ergens rond 2010... t was toen niet heel breed en daarna zijn de autos nogmaals een stukkie groter geworden.
  
  Jerez is vandaag de dag voor MotoGP een saaie race. Weinig inhalen door te korte rechte stukken en weinig ruimte om zij aan zij door bochten te gaan.
  
  Voor de lagere klassen is t nog steeds een leuk circuit. F3 zou hier dan ook prima kunnen racen.
