Gridboxes Grand Prix Australië na incidenten Alonso en Ocon aangepast

Bij zowel de eerste als de tweede Grand Prix van 2023 vond er een bijzonder incident plaats. In respectievelijke volgorde stonden Esteban Ocon en Fernando Alonso niet goed op hun startplaatsen, waardoor beide coureurs tijdens de race een penalty te verduren kregen. In antwoord op het commentaar van meerdere coureurs (waaronder Max Verstappen) dat het zicht vanuit de auto's te wensen over laat, heeft de fia besloten om vanaf de Grand Prix van Australië het een en ander aan te passen.

Het is in 2023 al twee keer voorgekomen. Esteban Ocon was in seizoensopener Bahrein de sjaak; Fernando Alonso kreeg in Jeddah een tijdsstraf op z'n bord. In navolging van beide incidenten werd ook Max Verstappen door Motorsport.com geciteerd dat het zicht vanuit de auto's niet goed genoeg is, waardoor fouten zoals het niet goed positioneren van de bolides in de startblokken relatief snel kunnen gebeuren. De internationale autosportbond FIA is met een passende oplossing gekomen, om het probleem zo snel en adequaat mogelijk te tackelen.

Meerdere bronnen op locatie melden namelijk dat de startplaatsen van de Formule 1-coureurs met 20 centimeter zijn verbreed. Dit zou de coureurs iets meer marge geven om zo het slechte zicht vanuit de auto's te compenseren. In toevoeging daarop heeft de raceleiding besloten om in het midden een gecentreerde lijn te plaatsen, wat zou moeten zorgen dat de coureurs hun wagens nog beter kunnen oplijnen.

Aanstaande zondag zal het duidelijk worden of de getroffen maatregelen voldoende zijn. De Grand Prix van Australië zal aanstaande zondag om 7.00 uur Nederlandse tijd van start gaan.

  Ja, dat briljante idee met die blindengeleidehonden is op nycks uitgelopen helaas. De FIA heeft echter in al haar wijsheid besloten om Stevie Wonder alle coureurs in die laatste honderd meter naar hun startplekken te dirigeren, dus dat gaat gelukkig helemaal goed komen Larry.

Kunnen ze niet gewoon de startgrid een nieuwe ronde laten rijden zodat ze zich opnieuw kunnen positioneren en de daders eventueel een penalty geven. Het liefst onmiddellijk en niet een uur later
