Gasly ontloopt straf, stewards grijpen niet in na crash met Ocon

Pierre Gasly moest vandaag eventjes vrezen voor een nieuwe straf en dus een mogelijke schorsing van één race. De Fransman raakte bij de tweede herstart de auto van zijn Alpine-teamgenoot Esteban Ocon. De twee coureurs moesten zich melden bij de stewards, maar er volgt geen straf.

Aangezien Gasly momenteel tien strafpunten heeft, moet hij op zijn tellen passen. De Franse coureur wordt immers voor één race geschorst zodra hij twaalf strafpunten bij elkaar heeft gereden. De stewards spraken met beide coureurs, maar het leverde niemand een straf op. Volgens de stewards was het niets meer dan een gewoon race incident.

Als je rijders dan ook nog een zak vol punten verkwanselen omdat ze de auto niet op de baan kunnen houden en een dikke hap uit het budget vreten met een schade waar je u tegen zegt snap ik al helemaal niet meer waar jij de positiviteit uit haalt. Het is weer een en al drama bij de Fransen en het was alleen aan de hand van Alonso dat ze langzaam beter leken te gaan.

      Rimmer, de toon van Alpine is de laatste jaren nog steeds ambitieus, maar ook realistisch. Kijk je naar deze race, dan zat Gasly er continue goed bij met goede pace.

    Dat lijkt me de juiste beslissing. Neemt niet weg dat het wel extreem pijnlijk is voor Alpine; het kost ze een hoop punten én neemt een grote hap uit hun budget. Dit is precies waar we met z'n allen bang voor waren als je Gasly en Ocon bij elkaar in een team zet.

    Komt Gasly goed weg dan, want rijdt de baan op na ernaast gegaan te zijn en kijkt vervolgens niet goed genoeg in zijn spiegels en drukt daardoor Ocon de muur in.. Ook wel beetje raar dat ze Sainz dan wel een straf geven en dat niet afdoen als ook een first lap racing incident.. Maargoed, dat soort interpretaties van stewards blijf je toch altijd houden binnen de regels..

    Wat het verlies van deze punten extra duur maakt...punten zijn moeilijk te halen dit jaar omdat er nu in principe 8 auto's zijn die voor je eindigen. Blijft in een race zonder gekkigheid nog 1 en 2 punten over.

    Vettel kreeg kreeg hier een straf voor in Montreal en raakte ze overwinning kwijt. Terwijl hij Hamilton niet eens raakte. En dit is geen straf? Dit vond ik toch echt meer " rejoining the track in an unsafe way, of whatever. Onnavolgbaar die FIA!

      Het is met de FIA maar net hoe de wind staat.

      Denk dat ze een rel over het feit willen voorkomen dat Gasly een schorsing krijgt en teams niet aan kwijtschelding van zijn eerdere strafpunten wilden meewerken.

      Met de FIA is het niets anders dan in Den Haag: regeren alleen uit oogpunt eigenbelang.

      Toch bijzonder dat dit ongestraft blijft (2 autos uit de race) onder de noemer first lap incident, maar Sainz wel maar gewoon 5 seconden mag ontvangen voor een first lap incident...

      Zoals Captain al aangeeft... de wind staat voor Ferrari gewoon ongunstig.

      Ze willen gewoon die discussie niet inderdaad, maar daar zouden ze heel, heel ver boven moeten staan. Dit toont maar weer eens aan dat ze geen ruggengraat hebben.

      Zeer zeker zouden ze meet ruggengraat moeten tonen.

      Helaas gaat het bij grote bestuurlijke organisaties tegenwoordig bovenal meer om de eigen imago's en belangen dan om het besturen.

      Het is niet alleen de FIA waar je dit ziet, maar ook bij bijvoorbeeld de FIFA, UEFA en de politiek: landelijk, Europees en wereldwijd.
