AlphaTauri versterkt samenwerking met Red Bull: "Regels zijn duidelijk"

Het team van AlphaTauri beleeft een lastige periode. De Italiaanse zusterrenstal van Red Bull Racing komt niet goed uit de verf en er bestaat twijfel over de toekomst van het team. Bij AlphaTauri heeft men dan ook een flinke reorganisatie doorgevoerd. Teambaas Franz Tost geeft aan dat de samenwerking met Red Bull is versterkt.

AlphaTauri worstelt al geruime tijd met de vorm. In 2022 zakte de prestaties van het team in elkaar en ook dit jaar begon men matig aan het seizoen. Vanuit de top van Red Bull klonken kritische geluiden en zelfs een verkoop is niet uitgesloten. Teambaas Franz Tost was ook ontevreden en haalde enkele weken geleden hard uit naar zijn eigen team.

Reorganisatie

Tost heeft dan ook ingegrepen en heeft de organisatie van het team aangepakt. De AlphaTauri-teambaas heeft zijn eerdere woorden omgezet in daden. Bij Sport1 legt Tost dat uit: "We hebben de aero-afdeling gereorganiseerd. Wij hebben afscheid genomen van personeel. Ik verwacht dat de nieuwe mensen in ons team voor verbetering zullen gaan zorgen. Ik wil echter geen namen gaan noemen. De verantwoordelijkheid is nu verdeeld over drie mensen."

Samenwerking

AlphaTauri reed in de afgelopen jaren met een compleet eigen ontwerp, het was opvallend aangezien ze het zusterteam zijn van topteam Red Bull Racing. Aston Martin kopieerde de Oostenrijkse renstal en is daarmee succesvol. Tost: "Die nieuwe werknemers konden de auto in een vroeg stadium ontwikkelen, dat zie je nu. Voor ons wordt de samenwerking met Red Bull nu versterkt. De reglementen zijn echter duidelijk. We mogen niets kopiëren, we mogen alleen onderdelen gebruiken die officieel zijn toegestaan. Die zijn niet prestatiegericht, de rest moeten we zelf ontwikkelen."

Is er dan ook een soort B spec te verwachten van AT rondom de zomerstop?

De auto is bagger. Dat Yuki er nog 2x 11 mee wordt en 1x vind ik best knap. Iemand zijn start gezien na de 2de code rood? Volgens mij lag hij 5 achter Hulkenberg vanaf P13 ofzo

  Op basis van de tekst van Pietje Bell, vraag ik me serieus af of ze eerder dan geen gebruik hebben gemaakt van de faciliteiten van Red Bull, zoals de windtunnel. Als je die nodig hebt om informatie te verkrijgen over je aero, dan wil je dat toch zo snel mogelijk doen, lijkt me? Waarom gebruik je die dan niet al tijdens je ontwikkeltraject?

Ze mogen geen onderdelen kopiëren, maar je mag toch wel personeel laten rouleren tussen teams? Vaak is er een concurrentiebeding in contracten, maar het is dezelfde werkgever: RedBull. Is er iets in de FIA regelementen dat dit verbied?

  Elke werknemer zal een clausule in hun contract hebben staan, dat wanneer ze overstappen naar een ander team, ze mogelijk een jaar aan de kant moeten staan. Vooral bij hooggeplaatste personeelsleden is dit vaak het geval.
  Echter is het team vrij om ze ook te laten vertrekken zonder “gardening leave”.
  Vouwles is van Mercedes naar Williams gegaan, en mocht daar meteen aan de slag.
  Sanchez die van Ferrari naar McLaren gaat, die mag pas vanaf januari 2024 aan de slag bij McLaren.
  Het is net wat de teams afspreken met hun werknemers.
  In dit geval zal er geen sprake zijn van een verplichte pauze, omdat ze feitelijk voor dezelfde werkgever blijven werken, alleen hun salaris zal nu betaald worden door Alpha Tauri, ipv Redbull.
  De grote teams zullen toch moeten snijden in hun personeelsbestand vanwege de budgetcap.
