Vowles verklaart uitvalbeurt Albon: "Auto deed het beter dan verwacht"

Alexander Albon veroorzaakte afgelopen weekend in Australië de eerste rode vlag van de race. De Thaise Williams-coureur crashte waardoor de baan werd bezaaid met grind. Het was een vreemde crash want men wist niet precies wat er mis was gegaan, teambaas James Vowles geeft nu meer duidelijkheid.

Albon reed een zeer sterk weekend in Australië. De Thaise Brit was goed gestart en vond zichzelf tijdens de race terug op een keurige zesde plaats. Hij leek het tempo van zijn concurrenten goed te kunnen volgen, maar zijn crash gooide dus roet in het eten. Niet alleen zijn race was verprutst, ook zijn collega's kregen een hinderlijke onderbreking voor hun kiezen.

Volgas

Bij Williams vroeg men zich af wat er nou precies mis was gegaan bij de crash van Albon. Teambaas James Vowles weet inmiddels wat er fout ging. In een video van het team legt Vowles de zaak uit: "Bocht vijf is volgas in de kwalificatie, maar in de race is dat nogal lastig. We dachten dan ook dat hij daar zou liften. Maar, de auto deed het veel beter dan we hadden gedacht. Hij kon gewoon volgas door die bocht rijden."

Liften

Aangezien men niet had verwacht dat Albon volle vaart door de desbetreffende bocht kon gaan, kreeg men te maken met een aantal verrassingen. Volgens Vowles was het ook de indirecte aanleiding van de crash van Albon: "Alex ging hierdoor tien kilometer per uur sneller door bocht vijf. Hij merkte op dat hij te snel ging en daarom besloot hij te liften. Daardoor ging hij wijd en raakte hij met zijn rechterachterband de kerb. Dit leek geen probleem te zijn, maar de banden waren op de limiet. Het had dus consequenties. Toen hij bocht zes in ging, hij had hij minder grip dan in de rondjes daarvoor."

Steeds vaker hier een titel met tegenstrijdige informatie. Ik snap dat het bedoelt is als soort van kl*kb**t, en om mensen die alleen op de titel reageren op het verkeerde been te zetten en de wind uit de zeilen te halen...
maar zéér vervelende trend.
Schrijf aub gewoon wat er is gebeurd met die uitvalbeurt. We weten inmiddels dat we hier toch al de eerste 2 alinea's kunnen overslaan en niet hoeven te lezen.

  Albon ging volgens mij te hard. Ik zou zeggen onder druk. Hij zat de bocht voor de spin al bijna tegen de muur, waar hij vuil oppakte. Vervolgens verloor hij de achterkant. Risico genomen en verloren.
