Circuit Hockenheim blijft dromen van F1-comeback

Het bekende circuit Hockenheim blijft dromen van een terugkeer op de Formule 1-kalender. In de steeds groter wordende wachtrij van circuits om een race van de koningsklasse te mogen organiseren, probeert de organisatie van het Duitse circuit met man en macht de Formule 1 weer naar haar faciliteiten terug te laten keren.

De laatste race op het Duitse circuit Hockenheim dateert alweer van 2019, waar de inmiddels tweevoudig wereldkampioen Max Verstappen na een doldwaze race uiteindelijk als eerste de finishvlag toegezwaaid kreeg. Deze kletsnatte editie op het 4,5 km lange circuit is volgens vele fans een favoriet, maar sindsdien is het Formule 1-circus niet meer naar de baan afgereisd.

Naar verluidt zou een tekort een financiële ondersteuning het grootste obstakel in de weg naar een vernieuwing van een contract met de Formule 1 zijn, en nu bevindt de organisatie van het circuit zich in een lange wachtrij voor een terugkomst van de F1-teams.

Ondanks de tegenvallende vooruitzichten, blijft het circuit hopen. Volgens directeur van het circuit Jorn Teske hoopt zijn organisatie in de nabije toekomst de koningsklasse weer naar de faciliteiten nabij de stad Hockenheim te verleiden. "We willen zeer graag dat de Formule 1 terug naar Duitsland keert. We weten hoe belangrijk de koningsklasse van de motorsport is; niet alleen voor het circuit, maar voor de gehele regio. We zijn ervan bewust dat we onze internationale bekendheid aan de sport te danken hebben, en we doen er alles aan om de Formule 1 terug te laten keren."

"Maar we blijven bij ons standpunt dat het organiseren van een Formule 1-race ons niet financieel zou moeten ruineren. Het gaat er niet eens om dat we veel geld verdienen, we willen gewoon geen geld verliezen. Als we een manier vinden om ervoor te zorgen dat dat risico verdwijnt, dan kan niets ons nog stoppen om de laatste details af te werken", concludeert Teske.

Hier is mijn lijstje van favoriete F1 circuits in combinatie met een logische logistieke volgorde:

Je ziet, gewoon iedere maand twee wedstrijden (dus globaal iedere twee weken) en ondanks "slechts" 18 races toch het hele kalenderjaar gevuld.
Daarnaast gaat het circus de gehele wereld rond door gewoon eerst het gehele continent af te werken voordat ze doorreizen naar een ander continent.
Ohja, geen zandbakken meer.
Terug ontopic; Hockenheim stond eerst ook op deze lijst maar heb ik weer verwijderd omdat dit circuit haar ziel heeft verloren toen deze haar recente layout kreeg.

  Maar zoals vermeld, dit is qua logistiek en continentale volgorde mijn oplossing.

  Ben bij de races van 2018 en 2019 geweest en waren beiden heerlijke wedstrijden. Kan me van de lange lay out niet direct een legendarische wedstrijd herinneren. De originalteitsprijs hebben ze niet, maar zeker geen slechte baan voor een goede race.

  SEN1: Abu Dhabi als afsluiter was anders ook bijna ieder jaar om te gapen. Saaie baan, net als Bahrein.
  Ja, en toen kwam 2021.
  Maar Melbourne kende ook mega spektakelraces en saaie treintjesraces. Spa -het circuit der circuits- staat ook niet garant voor altijd een vette race.
  Ik vind Melbourne er op tv aantrekkelijker uitzien dan een zandbakrace eerlijk gezegd.
