Sainz irriteert zich aan Audi-geruchten

Het is algemeen bekend dat de Formule 1 in 2026 flink gaat veranderen. In dat jaar gaan er nieuwe motorreglementen gelden en dat heeft de interesse van Audi gewekt. De Duitse autobouwer gaat vanaf 2026 samenwerken met Sauber en ze zijn al opzoek naar geschikte coureurs voor het project. Carlos Sainz vindt het vervelend dat hij aan Audi wordt gelinkt.

Het duurt nog drie jaar voordat Audi de koningsklasse van de autosport gaat betreden, maar men is nu al actief bezig met de voorbereidingen. De Zwitserse krant Blick berichtte vorige week dat Audi momenteel geïnteresseerd is in de diensten van huidig Ferrari-coureur Carlos Sainz. Het is geen vreemde gedachte aangezien er wel banden met Audi bestaan. Carlos Sainz senior rijdt immers voor het merk in de Dakar Rally.

Ferrari-coureur Sainz vindt de verhalen over een mogelijke overstap naar Audi vooral zeer irritant. De Spanjaard denkt helemaal niet zo ver vooruit en ergert zich aan geruchten. In een gesprek met zijn sponsor Estrella Galicia is Sainz duidelijk: "Het is mijn doel om nog jaren te rijden voor Ferrari. Ik weet niet eens hoe ze over 2026 kunnen praten terwijl ik nog geen eens een contract heb voor 2025. Het irriteert mij dat er dit soort niet-bevestigde geruchten naar buiten komen."

Ik hoop dat Sainz nog vele jaren voor Ferrari uitkomt. Ik heb het idee dat Leclerc de lokroep van Mercedes niet zal kunnen weerstaan, maar met een teamspeler Sainz als volwassen en stabiele factor in de traditie van Massa en Raikkonen is de continuïteit toch enigszins gewaarborgd.

  Carlos junior en senior zijn alles behalve teamspelers, als ik Ferrari was zou ik Sainz inwisselen voor meer getalenteerde coureurs die ook op de grid staan.
  
  En hij is als coureur het “net niet”, net niet snel genoeg, net niet goed genoeg onder druk.

  Naja meestal beginnen de geruchten over Sainz junior bij Sainz sr... de switch naar renault en mclaren en Ferrari sjoemelde volgens mij t eerste rond in spanje.

  Het waren vooral de heren senior die olie op het vuur gooiden en ene James Key. Verder 8 jaar geleden. Sainz jr. rijdt nu voor Ferrari. En persoonlijk vind ik Carlos jr. daar beter passen dan Charles Leclerc en die zou ik als ik Audi was wel willen binnehalen.
