Alpine gaat bij aankomende races 'redelijke' upgradepakketten meenemen

De aankomende weken worden drukbezet voor de Formule 1. Met maar liefst vijf Grands Prix in zes weken tijd zal er flink door de koningsklasse verder in de kalender doorgestoomd worden. Volgens het Franse team Alpine staan er voor de komende races flink wat upgradepakketten klaar. Niet alleen bij Baku wordt er het een en ander vernieuwd, ook in Miami en Imola zal de equipe wat nieuwe onderdelen aan de auto toevoegen.

Eerder deze week complimenteerde Alpine-teambaas Otmar Szafnauer zijn team nog dat er snel na de dramatische dubbelcrash van coureurs Pierre Gasly en Esteban Ocon doorgeschakeld werd door snel nieuwe reserveonderdelen voor Baku te prepareren. Nu lijkt er nog meer goed nieuws uit de fabrieken van Enstone en Viry te rollen, meent technisch directeur Matt Harman.

"We nemen een nieuwe vloer mee naar Baku, samen met een aantal aerodynamische en mechanische onderdelen. Vanaf de eerstvolgende race in Miami hebben we een nog groter pakket klaar staan, en we nemen ook wat upgrades naar Imola mee. Deze constante stroom (van upgrades) zal het gehele seizoen voortduren. Kortgezegd zijn de upgrades voor Baku, Miami en Imola redelijke stappen – maar niet zo significant als de media de afgelopen weken heeft verspreid."

"Het is belangrijk dat we een agressieve ontwikkelingslijn blijven doorzetten. De complimenten mogen trouwens wel aan beide fabrieken in Viry en Enstone gegeven worden voor het blijven behalen van hun ontwikkelingsdoelstellingen", sluit Harman af.

Alpine heeft net als AM al vorig seizoen de aanzet gemaakt naar een RB achtig concept, het is door hun eigen gepruts (team en coureurs) dat ze nog zo weinig punten hebben gepakt, maar ik zie ze niet ver achter Ferrari, Mercedes en AM zitten.

Wie weet lukt het ze wel om grotere stappen te maken dan de teams voor hen en zien we ze de strijd aangaan om het podium.

D.w.z. als hun 2 coureurs elkaar een beetje heel laten op de baan…… dat gaat absoluut nog wel een paar keer fout.
