'Teams blokkeren last minute regelwijziging aan sprintformat'

Dit weekend wordt er voor het eerst gewerkt met het nieuwe sprintformat. De grootste wijziging ten opzichte van het oude sprintformat is de komst van de Sprint Shootout op de zaterdagochtend. De FIA heeft hier echter een foutje gemaakt, maar de teams lijken niet te willen helpen om deze fout goed te maken.

In de Sprint Shootout zijn de teams verplicht om een specifieke band te gebruiken. In SQ1 en SQ2 mogen de coureurs alleen in actie komen op een nieuw setje mediums en in SQ3 mogen de coureurs alleen maar rijden om een nieuw setje softs. Er is echter een maas in de wet gevonden en de FIA lijkt het niet voor elkaar te krijgen om dit probleem onmogelijk te maken.

Teams kunnen er nu namelijk op gokken om de zachte band op de vrijdag te gebruiken tijdens de gewone kwalificatie. Hiermee gaan ze er vanuit dat ze SQ3 niet gaan halen en dat ze daardoor dus een extra setje softs voor de rest van het weekend hebben. Als een team SQ3 wel bereikt, dan rijden ze dus niet in deze sessie. Volgens Motorsport.com heeft de FIA in Azerbeidzjan aan de teams gevraagd om voor een regelwijziging te stemmen, dit is echter niet gelukt.

    Lekker belangrijk. Het zijn dus de teams die het minst goed presteren. Dus komen ze misschien ietsje hoger uit voor de start. Tenzij ze het allemaal doen...

    Snap echt niet dat fia een wijziging zo laat in het seizoen wil doordrukken. Draait echt alleen maar om geld bij hun.
    Quali kan ik dankzij fia niet meer zien ivm meeste oo vrijdag werken. Sprint is niet veel indrukwekkends aan.
    Sprint voelt gewoon als race zonder pitstop.

    Van mij mogen ze het gewoon bij qauli en race houden.
