Alpine verwacht wagen Gasly te kunnen repareren voor kwalificatie

Pierre Gasly was de grote pechvogel van de eerste vrije training op het stratencircuit van Bakoe. De Franse Alpine-coureur moest zijn wagen stilzetten nadat de vlammen uit de achterzijde sloegen. De beelden zagen er spectaculair uit, maar Gasly moest eventjes vrezen voor zijn kwalificatie.

Om 15:00 wordt immers de kwalificatie verreden in Azerbeidzjan. Aangezien er wordt gewerkt met het nieuwe sprintformat wordt vanmiddag de startopstelling voor de Grand Prix bepaald. Alpine laat weten dat het chassis van de wagen van Gasly in orde is. Het team werkt hard door en vervangt de versnellingsbak en de Power Unit van Gasly. Het team hoopt dat ze de auto op tijd af hebben voor de kwalificatie.

UPDATE:

Pierre’s car was returned to the garage at approximately 15:00 local time.

We can confirm that the chassis is intact and the team are working exceptionally hard to replace the gearbox and power unit.

It will be tight, but we are aiming to be ready for Qualifying.
