Zieke Piastri opgelucht dat Grand Prix-weekend in Baku achter de rug is

Het afgelopen weekend is er eentje om te vergeten voor McLaren-coureur Oscar Piastri. De F1-rookie voelde zich namelijk niet lekker, en zou een last van een buikgriep hebben gehad. Na afloop van het grand Prix-weekend is de Australische jongeling blij dat het erop zit, en kijkt ernaar uit om zich voor de aankomende race in Miami te herstellen.

Oscar Piastri, coureur van McLaren en teamgenoot van Lando Norris, had een niet al te best afgelopen weekend. De 22-jarige uit Melbourne gaf na de Grand Prix van afgelopen zondag aan dat hij zich al enige tijd onwel voelde. Piastri kwam bij de sprintrace als tiende op de race, en wist bij de Grand Prix als elfde over de streep te komen.

"Ik denk dat ik mij vandaag het best voel van dit weekend, en dat zegt niet veel”, begint Piastri tegenover verschillende media. “Het was fysiek gezien een zwaar weekend, vooral gisteren (zaterdag) was zwaar", vertelt de McLaren-man, die de interviewsessie na de sprintrace aan zich voorbij liet gaan.

"Ik heb dit weekend in totaal zo'n vier stukken geroosterd brood gehad. Nu is het zaak om weer wat voedsel in te nemen voordat de Grand Prix van Miami begint. Het was zwaar, maar ik ben blij dat het nu achter de rug is. Ik heb veel geleerd op het gebied van bandenmanagement, dus daar gaan we naar kijken zodat we ervan kunnen leren", sluit Piastri met een positief bericht af.

Keurig gereden: als rookie en onwel op vijf seconden van Norris finishen is gewoon goed. Ik vraag me wel hoe het met de motivatie van Norris staat nu het wéér een ellendig jaar bij McLaren lijkt te worden.
