Domenicali stelt fans gerust: "Geen situatie met Sprints bij alle raceweekenden"

Vorige week werd in Azerbeidzjan de eerste Sprint van het huidige Formule 1-seizoen afgewerkt. Er werd in Bakoe direct gewerkt met een nieuw format en nog niet iedereen is daar fan van. De kritiek op de Sprints is groot en Formule 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali belooft dat er een maximum aantal sprints zal zijn.

Eerder vandaag kwamen er geruchten naar buiten over een mogelijke groei van het aantal Sprints in 2024. Formule 1-eigenaar Liberty Media zou namelijk groot fan zijn van de sprints en men zou overwegen om het aantal sprints in 2024 te verhogen tot tien. Dit jaar worden er zes sprints afgewerkt en volgens sommigen is dat al teveel.

Formule 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali heeft de kritiek ook meegekregen. De Italiaanse CEO stelt de fans gerust in een call met analisten van Wall Street: "We willen geen situatie krijgen waarbij we bij elk raceweekend een Sprint hebben. We willen daar een maximum voor invoeren, zoals bijvoorbeeld een Sprint bij 1/3e van de kalender. We willen iets speciaals creëren voor de competitie met meer sportieve waarde met prijzen en natuurlijk ook commerciële kansen. Ik denk dat de juiste weg is om hiermee om te gaan."

      Nee, je hebt niets gemist @Larry. Datzelfde dacht ik dus de hele dag al.
      M..a..r.t.i.j.n. schreef me gisteravond dat ze er mee aan het werk waren. @Evert schreef hier vanmiddag hetzelfde, maar het duurt nu wel heel erg lang.

    Ik zou liever willen dat ze in de sprint de andere kant oprijden. Dan krijg je pas leuke televisie. Of allemaal in zijn achteruit met DRS altijd aan. Je zou er dan nog een aanhanger achter moeten kunnen hangen voor bonuspunten. En hij de finish direct de vrachtwagen inrijden zoals alleen Michael Knight dat kan. Wie het eerst bij het vliegveld is wint 3 start plekken voor de race erop! Ik hoop dat doemaarnormali die allemaal leest….

      Precies! Dit stond er vanmiddag op MS:

      Domenicali: “Actually, the result of the first one of this year has been very encouraging. And every one of our partners, promoters, media partners, and also teams is very positive about that.

      “Of course, there is something that we want to take as a lesson learned, to see at the end of summer, if there is something that we can learn to do even something better.

      "But in general terms, the first weekend of the sprint format has been great.

      Dat "gerust stellen" komt natuurlijk van de schrijver hier, maar elders valt te lezen dat D de mensen gerust wil stellen en dat terwijl hij juist zegt dat het geweldig was volgens iedereen, behalve de oude fans. Dat strookt niet met elkaar, want dan zou je de mensen juist teleurstellen als je niet elk weekend een sprintrace houdt.

      Datcis nog het ergste: normaal moeten mensen worden gerustgesteld voor slecht nieuw, Die Domiicale realiseert zich dus echt wel dat die sprintraces slecht nieuws zijn voor de echte F1 fans.
