Chandhok onder de indruk van Red Bull: "Dat team heeft geen zwakheden"

Na vijf Grands Prix in 2023 tot nu toe verreden te hebben, staat het team van Red Bull op een ijzingwekkende hoogte. De Oostenrijkse renstal heeft al 224 punten gescoord; een totaal dat meer dan tweemaal zoveel is dan achtervolger Aston Martin. Sky F1-analist en oud F1-coureur Karun Chandhok is zeer onder de indruk van de duizelingwekkende prestaties van Red Bull, en meent geen zwakheden in het team te kunnen identificeren.

Het lijkt erop dat er tussen Red Bull en opnieuw een dubbelkampioenschap niets in de weg kan staan. Het team heeft van de vijf races viermaal een 1-2 podium gescoord, en ziet daarmee beide coureurs Max Verstappen en Sergio Pérez onaangetast bovenaan staan.

De achtervolgende teams van Aston Martin, Ferrari en Mercedes kunnen niet aan de snelheid en efficiëntie van het Formule 1-kamp van de energiedrankjesgigant tippen, en volgens Sky F1-analist Karun Chandhok is het team niet kapot te krijgen.

"Je hebt twee ongelofelijk goede coureurs, de auto is snel in de kwalificatie en is goed met de banden. Verder heeft de RB19 een sterke motor en kunnen de coureurs met gemak anderen inhalen. Wat betreft de strategieën en de pitstops is het team ook ontzettend goed."

"Daarbij is er geen tekort aan motivatie. Adrian (Newey) gaat zijn veertigste jaar binnen de motorsport in en hij heeft er nog steeds zin in. Hij is nog steeds heel erg scherp en hij motiveert het team en de mensen om zich heen. Er zitten gewoon geen zwakheden in dat team", concludeert Chandhok.

  De ‘Britten’ zijn niet om en waren ook niet tegen. Dat heeft Thialf zichzelf doen laten geloven omdat die ‘eilandbewoners’ gek genoeg een lichte voorkeur hebben voor Britse coureurs. Je verwacht het niet, maar dat schijnt normaal te zijn.
