Szafnauer niet ongerust: "Hebben nog 75 races te gaan" in 100-race plan

De Franse Formule 1-renstal Alpine heeft een 100-race plan opgesteld. De missie is om binnen honderd races om met de Grand Prix-overwinningen en titelgevechten mee te kunnen doen. Een ambitieuze doelstelling, die volgens velen wat vertraging begint op te lopen. Alpine-teambaas Otmar Szafnauer blijft echter kalm, en stelt dat er nog genoeg races te gaan zijn voordat de deadline zou gaan verlopen.

Vorig seizoen behaalde Alpine een goede vierde eindstek in het constructeurskampioenschap, en meenden tijdens de recentelijke winterstop wat betreft voorwaarts gezette stappen er nog een flinke schep bovenop te willen doen. Dat plan is echter niet geheel gelukt, want niet alleen valt de performancewinst tot nu toe dit seizoen tegen, ook lijken de andere middenveldteams dichterbij te komen.

Het ambitieuze 100-race plan lijkt volgens criticasters in gevaar te komen. Onlangs riep Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi dat zijn team nu vaart moet beginnen te maken, en vuurde een waarschuwing af naar Szafnauer. De Roemeens-Amerikaanse teambaas lijkt zich echter niet ongerust te maken, en meent dat er nog genoeg marge over is voor het team om de nodige stappen te kunnen maken.

"Toen we het 100-race plan maakten, hebben we ook een planning in elkaar gezet om de benodigde infrastructuur en kennis te vergaren. Daar zijn we nu druk mee bezig. Je moet de juiste mensen en het juiste gereedschap hebben. Ik heb het niet bijgehouden, maar we hebben nog zo'n 75 races te gaan. Dus stel dat we 25 races per jaar hebben, dan hebben we 3,5 jaar te gaan. In die 3,5 jaar krijgen we een nieuwe simulator, een nieuwe manager daarvoor, die dingen gaan komen. En wanneer ze er zijn, dan gaan we stappen maken", concludeert een vastberaden Szafnauer.

  Nogmaals: Snafzauer was voor 2022 niet actief voor dexe renstal (hij werkte eerder voor Aston Martin/Racing Point), miezerig verschrompeld zwansje.

  THW formally known as Pappous is een echte francofiel en kon de afgelopen jaren zijn frustratie over het falen van de Fransen amper de baas. Toen er ook nog eens mensen grappen over gingen maken, waaronder ik, knapte er iets in zijn bolletje.
  Sindsdien zien we deze troll hier van tijd tot tijd langs komen. Hij heeft zich nu een jasje aangemeten waarin hij zogenaamd Ferrari fan is maar ik weet wel beter. Je ziet dat in dit topic ook weer terugkomen De liefde voor Frankrijk gaat diep bij hem en dat is prima alleen kan hij geen kritiek op het Franse gerommel verdragen en daar gaat het keer op keer fout. Moeilijke jaren liggen voor hem in het verschiet maar over 75 races is alles goed, dan pakken ze de titel met super talent Gasly.

Als ze dat nou bij Aston zeggen, maar Otmar ligt toch net ff wat te ver achter op schema. Die gaat in ieder geval de kerst niet halen als ik zijn baas hoorde razen afgelopen week.

Wow 100 races en dat opgeteld bij de races die Renault reserveerde om bij de top te komen,daarbij ook nog opgeteld de onrust die er is. Voor deze tijd verstreken is, is het team allang ter ziele of verkocht.
