Mercedes laat vrachtwagens op biofuel rijden

Ook in de Formule 1 is men zich ervan bewust dat er iets moet gebeuren op het gebied van milieuzaken. De sport wil in 2030 klimaatneutraal gaan opereren en de teams doen er alles aan om dat doel te bereiken. Het team van Mercedes onthult dat ze daarvoor dit seizoen een belangrijke stap zetten.

Mercedes laat namelijk weten dat ze dit jaar al gebruik gaan maken van biofuels. Deze groen brandstof zullen ze gaan gebruiken om hun vrachtwagens te laten rijden tussen de Europese races door. De trucks vervoeren het materieel van het team van circuit naar circuit en dat zal nu dus op een volledige klimaatneutrale manier gebeuren. Het team experimenteerde vorig jaar al met de brandstof tijdens de triple header België-Nederland-Italië. Mercedes beweert dat ze daar toen de uitstoot ten opzichte van de normale brandstof met 89 procent wisten te verminderen.
