Sainz na twijfel over blessure bij benefietwedstrijd: "Ben ongedeerd"

Na een opgedoken foto van Carlos Sainz die zijn rechterbeen in verband zou hebben laten gewikkeld ontstonden er vragen of de Spanjaard geblesseerd zou zijn, en of zijn deelname aan het aankomende Grand Prix-weekend in Monaco in gevaar zou kunnen komen. Nu weet Sainz zijn fans gerust te stellen: de Scuderia-coureur heeft geen blessure of verwondingen opgelopen, en het laten behandelen van zijn been was puur uit voorzorg gedaan.  

Voorafgaand het Grand Prix weekend in Monaco werd eerder deze week traditiegetrouw een benefietwedstrijd gehouden. Onder andere F1-CEO Stefano Domenicali, Tennislegende Novak Djokovic en F1-coureurs Pierre Gasly, Charles Leclerc en Carlos Sainz waren uitgenodigd om een potje te komen voetballen en op die manier een aantal goede doelen te ondersteunen.  

Beide Ferrari-coureurs Charles Leclerc en Carlos Sainz waren misschien iets té enthousiast bezig, want terwijl de eerstgenoemde man op komische wijze viel, werd de Spanjaard na contact met een medevoetballer in de dug-out behandeld. Na het opduiken van de foto ontstond er twijfel of Sainz dit weekend wel de stratenrace in Monte Carlo zou kunnen gaan afwerken, maar nu weet de coureur met racenummer 55 aan de wereld te melden dat hij ongedeerd is, en hij zodoende zonder problemen de Grand Prix van Monaco kan gaan aanvangen.

    De vraag was niet of hij de Grand Prix van Monaco kan gaan aanvangen, maar of hij ook de finish kan halen.

What happened yesterday was simply a contact during the traditional charity football match, but it was not an injury. I enjoyed playing football as I always do and now I am really looking forward to the weekend.

      Ron Kanon is zo'n kleuter die het niet kan hebben als je iets negatiefs over z'n liefje schrijft. Niet teveel aandacht eraan schenken. Dat doen ze bij hem thuis ook niet.
